I did the updates for the post doc thread last year. I would put them in a .doc and cut and paste in case SDN crashed/closed while I was updating.

Clothes: I wore a black suit with comfortable, stacked-heel boots and a patterned shirt (sometimes collared, sometimes not). I found people wore all sorts of variations of professional clothes, including slacks and sweater sets, colored blazers that were a different color than pants, etc. Not a single training director seemed to be concerned (all VAs or AMCs). Having been on the other side of the application process, I could not tell you what a single applicant wore to the interviews at my internship site last year.

I applied to 15 sites, 5 of which were "safety sites" for me. I was rejected from every safety site and all of my interviews (8) were at more "competitive" sites. I had 6 or 7 rejections before I got an invite.

I found the post doc process to be more anxiety-provoking than the internship process. I missed the match process.

Also, my powers are apparently broken. Went for a walk and heard nothing, and it seems like y'all didn't either. But y'all, dont fret! I've got super high hopes for tomorrow because I have an appointment with my gyno tomorrow and we all know what happened when I called her last week!! There's hope yet!!!!

Lol! being optimistic, I think.if the rejections were mass emails then we should have some hope to get an invite. Hoping we hear something tomorrow.

This is SUCH a good comment. I echo everything said here. To the extent that it serves you, go wild with planning outfits, straightening hair, etc. But your appearance really doesn’t matter, unless you stand out for a few very wrong reasons. (Tattoos/etc not included in that; we’re talking fishnets, t-shirts, etc.)

Also, I would gently discourage folks who are trying to read tea leaves based on notification patterns from last year. Everyone is “doing more with less” these days (TDs included), and we can’t necessarily “match” the turnaround time of prior years. (I come by this statement honestly, as I currently have a stack of aapis on my lap at 9 o’clock at night.)

Hang in there folks, it really will be over before you know it.

Also sanity - I can set aside that I never learned how to do this the "right" way!

(*cue reframe*) We are merely attempting to use the data collected during the previous years to make predictions about the current year. It's qualitative research at its finest :prof:!

And, on a more serious note: Thank you for the insight and advice.

Although I have to wonder who would actually wear fishnets to an pre-doc psychology internship interview :eyebrow:?!?

Edward Lewis/creepy TD: I think you are a very bright, very special woman.

It's too early to tell and I'm largely...non-compliant with treatment :whistle: lol! Seemed helpful the few times I tried!

Stick with it and work up to how long you lay on it! I like to lay on it and listen to an episode or two of the Office, Mindy, or Parks and Rec. Or right before bed as a way to help me get super relaxed and fall asleep. Also, standing on it in thin socks after a day of wearing heels/uncomfortable shoes is bliss!
