Applicant Survey - 2016 - Part 2Guys, I'm looking for the match statistics based on number of interviews. I think someone posted it here a few days ago, but I can't find it here or online. Can someone re-paste it or link it here.
Thanks!

Screw those clinical sites. The bias against School Psych PhDs blows my mind sometimes. Especially given that at our school, we take almost all of the clinical classes and then the school psych classes on top of them. I have 104 credits right now.
Than Which school sites are you waiting to hear from? If you don't mind me asking 🙂
I agree! Our program is pretty clinical as well, but I think sometimes sites see school psych and don't look further. I'm waiting to hear from DallasISD, Avondale Elementary School, Virginia Beach City Public Schools, CO-PIC, Tennessee Internship Consortium, and Cypress-Fairbanks ISD. They all have notification dates of 12/15, I think *boooo.* What about you??
Oh fun!!! ALL of my sites are school based so i'm literally waiting on ALL of them- we have so much overlap!:
ISPIC
HI-PIC
VA Beach (!!)
Dallas ISD (!)
Fort Worth ISD
Lewisville ISD
Tennessee Internship consortium
Cypress Fairbanks
Devereux Institute
The School @columbia University
I was going to apply for Avondale and then last minute decided not to because I already have SO MANY apps in and it was Friday and I was exhausted...etc. I'm working 4.5 days a week in 2 districts right now.

Um...yes. This made me picture a group of us in simultaneous tattoo sessions drinking beer and eating #peetzit while encouraging each other that we're going to survive this process and it's all going to be all right. While ironically listening to Taylor Swift's album in the shop so we can report back to @slaney on our thoughts. You're not at all talking to me, but between #peezit, beer, tattoos, and encouragement...I feel like we'd get along.
You're invited to my imaginary party if that would help at all. Thanks! Rejection number 8 so excited 😵😵😵😡😡😡
Kevin's sads when he dropped his pot of amazing chili on the floor...that was how I felt going into the weekend. Radio silence=12.Time to wait until Monday...again.
'Tis the freakin' weekend.

Wait, what? You *weren't* picturing that same thing?
I'm not stressed, YOU'RE stressed.
As much as I hated on T-Swift's new album, I've definitely had a couple of the tracks on repeat. A lot of her music is very A Christmas Prince-esque in that it's cotton candy for your brain, so I'm welcoming it hahaha.Um...yes. I have ALWAYS wanted to get a tattoo but have never been able to decide what I want. Y'all are encouraging me to consider the tattoo thing with renewed fervor! It's also a really nice distraction from internship ish. This is my DREAM. That tattoo shop is my #wandsite.

It is a wonderful distraction! I got my first rejection email while I was under the gun, and I was so relaxed when I read it I thought, "guess you're not my #wandsite. No worries!"As much as I hated on T-Swift's new album, I've definitely had a couple of the tracks on repeat. Ahhh! I decided to do half clinical and half school, and then see what happens. I'm definitely thinking I should have put more of my eggs into school sites, but I also was overwhelmed and just tired of apps by the time I realized that. Best of luck to you!! [Only] two more weeks of waiting, although last year Dallas let people know on December 6th so![]()

I will be honest, most of us just wear flats (which is still cold) but most of the other times you either wear boots (nice ones) or wear snow boots to get inside and then change into nice shoes (not super possible with interviews tho)On a different subject, do y'all have any suggestions on shoes for interviews in cold/potentially snowy ( 😱) climates? For some perspective, I am a Southern gal born and raised who has managed to exist on this planet for over 2.5 decades without buying an actual winter, wool coat, and am at a total loss for suitable winter-appropriate shoes to go with my suit. My pants have a trouser leg that my pumps look great with, but I don't want to be slipping and sliding outside in that stuff y'all call snow and ice. This is not a "what's "appropriate" interview attire" question, this is a serious "what kind of shoes do people wear when it's cold and snowy because I'm from a city that literally shuts down at the CHANCE of snow" question. Any suggestions are more than welcome!

It's pretty common in snow cities to wear some cozy, high traction boots and change into pumps indoors. They even make these cute rubber trays for your shoes that you'll see in some office. But unless you're walking blocks to your site, or your interview is outside, just wear your pumps and don't buy new shoes just for interviews. On a different subject, do y'all have any suggestions on shoes for interviews in cold/potentially snowy ( 😱) climates? I second the recommendation for ankle boots or flats. After growing up in the Midwest, I have not found a better option for interviews. I know for my interview next week, I am planning on going with flats. The site is encompassed in one building, so on a tour I will not have to walk around outside. For some of my other sites, the site is on a large campus so I am leaning towards the ankle boots so I do not freeze walking around on the tour of the facility. On a different subject, do y'all have any suggestions on shoes for interviews in cold/potentially snowy ( 😱) climates? Seconding nice boots or flats. Probably something that covers your whole foot, to keep your feet warm(er) and give at least some protection if you encounter unsalted/unshoveled walkways. Salt grime can be a pain, so nice shoes that don't scuff easily, or can be wiped clean, if you have them.On a different subject, do y'all have any suggestions on shoes for interviews in cold/potentially snowy ( 😱) climates? I think this was discussed previously in this forum, but I agree with the previous replies and recommend ankle booties for those sites. Mine are black with a slight wedge. Comfortable and warm! I've lived in snow country my entire life and this will be particularly relevant if you're not used to walking in that kind of snow/ice.On a different subject, do y'all have any suggestions on shoes for interviews in cold/potentially snowy ( 😱) climates? What are you all bringing with you to the actual interviews? Do we need copies of our CV, copies of the site brochures, or anything like that???
i feel like we don't need it but i will probably bring these + some of my AAPI stuff just in case - since it's one of those "supposed to do" thingsWhat are you all bringing with you to the actual interviews? Do we need copies of our CV, copies of the site brochures, or anything like that???

Thank you to everyone for weighing in on the winter weather shoe dilemma! Ankle boots seem reasonable, but I do have one other question: when y'all say "nice boots"....what all does that entail? AKA, can I buy some from dsw.com or are there like special places where one buys "nice boots suitable for snowy weather?"
Thank y'all for enduring my ignorance regarding cold-weather footwear! You'll all be pleased to know I'm working on my snow/winter weather small talk (e.g., "All this snow is just lovely, it makes everything look like a winter wonderland."

Snacks! I was told that particularly for all-day interviews, having a stash of small snacks in your bag can be a lifesaver. What are you all bringing with you to the actual interviews? Do we need copies of our CV, copies of the site brochures, or anything like that???

DSW is fine! Winter-weather boots can get expensive, and I expect professional- looking ones (if they even exist?? I've never seen any) would probably be more so.Thank you to everyone for weighing in on the winter weather shoe dilemma! Thank you for the tip about suede! Rational Mind says "duh, suede would not work well in snow/ice/cold wetness" but Emotion Mind was like "YAAAAS PLEASE" when I was browsing on dsw. I found some black faux-leather booties that are pretty understated and just ordered them (for $30 cheaper on Amazon than dsw, whatttupppp!), so thanks for the advice everyone! This felt like a true, #forumfam effort hahahI have Sam Edelman Petty's (DSW sells a similar style I think) that I'll probably wear, or some form of black leather Chelsea boot. DSW definitely has lots of boots that I'd consider appropriate! I think of "nice boots" as, if you're gonna wear them to interviews and not for style reasons, not TOO high of a heel (3 or below I'd say, especially for walking outside!), not a lot of decorations (studs, extra zippers everywhere, what have you), and a typical color (black, maybe gray?). They aren't necessarily snow boots but they should good enough to do a brief tour outside/walk to interviews. Bonus, I love wearing my block heel ankle boots when going out. They're very comfortable. Don't get suede for winter boots! /endofadvice

How I'm staying sane: Saturday, really?! Not cool. Aside from that, I am fine with this rejection. My advisor really wanted me to apply here, but I did not feel that the fit was good for me and it was thus toward the bottom of my list. Anyhow, I've been watching all of the sports today and continuing to watch Seth Myers and eat lots of chocolate.

-If & How You’re Staying Sane: I'm actually ok about this one. This one was closer to the bottom of my list, the letter wasn't rude (Emory's was worse), and I expected it. It's all cool in the pool.
emotional mind sees APPIC list serve like "ADD APPLICATIONS TO AAALLL THE ACCREDITED SITES. YOU NEED MORE INVITES"
I like the idea of having hard copies of things, especially site-specific info. I was also going to make notecards for each site with the rotations and supervisors and other bullet-point-type things I'm most interested in for each site. That way I can study them on the plane or in hotels without having to pour through pages of brochures.Sorry I'm late to reply....I went to get my hair done today as an attempt to stay sane (I'm convincing myself this was self-care and not just interview prep...)
Our training director told us that we needed to make sure we brought copies of: Our cover letter for the site, questions we plan to ask (nerves happen, and if you have time to review it may help), a printed copy of our APPI, CV, and a copy of the essays. I am bringing along a hard copy of the brochure to look over the night before in the hotel room, but won't be bringing it with me on the day of. I also decided I was going to print out hard copies of the emails they sent with instructions for finding the interview locations at the site. I know that my current practicum site is a cell-phone reception black hole, so I wanted to make sure I didn't have to rely on my phone to pull this info up day of.
Yeah, I'm really curious what a rude rejection sounds like too. My favorite is still Brown's which said the rejection didn't NECESSARILY reflect any deficiency in my application. Still makes me chuckle when I think about itwhat was Emory's like if you don't mind my asking?? i haven't gotten any outwardly rude ones...

Oh it wasn't super horrible- just that they were unwilling to offer me further consideration and were sorry to offer 'such disappointing' news via email. Kinda read like a rejection from a narcissistic guy after a first date who doesn't want date #2--but it was my first rejection, so maybe I took it worse than it was. It just didn't have some of the affirmations I would expect from a let-down letter written by a psychologist.what was Emory's like if you don't mind my asking?? i haven't gotten any outwardly rude ones...
