I received an email with a link to explain my ties to SC- I'm OOS. The email says to allow a few weeks for the admissions committee to review my ties to SC before they decide whether or not to send me a secondary.
 
Did anyone get a secondary yet? I received one last year from USC SOM on 7/5.....

Anyone have thoughts on applying here OOS w/ 506 and 3.87 cGPA? I am conducting research at MUSC for the summer, have visited the state multiple times over the past 3 years and would like to relocate here someday. Thanks 🙂

Do you have any other close ties to SC in addition to the research at MUSC?

Judging by the previous posts on this thread, it looks like the school will give an automatic rejection if you don't have close ties to the state. However, you do have some ties since you're doing research in SC... I'm not sure if its enough but your stats are are good enough to get you in I believe!

I hope you get in! My scores a similar. I’m from NC, and my fiancée is from SC and goes to Carolina for med school right now, and the admissions director told me on the phone that basically living in South Carolina once every couple months wasn’t good enough, but I’m hoping for better results from my ties form. But luckily for you, they did say if you live there for a year(ish) then you have “strong ties”. Good luck!!

Received a straight up rejection today. Didn't even bother to send me a secondary. Oh well, on the the next one.

I GOT MY SECONDARY!!!! I am OOS, got my ties form approved today. I sent it in three weeks ago (July 30th).
 
Does this school accept application updates after you've already submitted your secondary?
 
Is there a way to check the status of the application? I got my confirmation email way back, but when I logged on to see if I could check the status, it made what looks like a new secondary application to the school...

You could just call them, but I don't know if that's really advisable.

Any idea how long it usually takes them to get back to you after a interview?

Honestly it just depends. There are a select few who will receive an acceptance/rejection the day after their interview. For most people, it will take months since about half of the final class typically comes off of the waitlist. Do not forget about your thank you letters/emails!!

Months? Dang, that must be excruciating.
What was the interview like? Did they focus on application weaknesses a lot or was it more of a 'get to know you' vibe
 
Any IIs lately? I was complete over a month ago and still haven't heard back. Should I be worried? My mcat score is 513, gpa 3.92
