Do you not understand how the match works
Yeah, I do. I’ve already been through it. Every 4th year sits there and parses through every word looking for some indication that the program either likes them or doesn’t. The fact that they’ll flat out tell you that they’re not interested in you is great. Saves you the anxiety of knowing, and if you’re not too interested don’t even have to bother looking up them up for the rank list.

Can't speak to EM, but I interviewed there for IM and it was an utter **** show. It was my first interview and used it to get rid of the nerves. No dinner, no hotel, interview day was done by 0930. Needless to say, I did not rank them.

It’s a pretty ballsy move in my opinion. Just think about it this way if you’re making your rank list and they tell you that you’re like OK that’s not the place for me but what of the other places ? Are they thinking the same thing. People get anxious and then self doubt about everything. No need to add to that in this process because it already has enough. You’ve been through this process that I’m sure you understand. Plus their hospital in general was all over the name and shame thread on Reddit. I just might be a HF thing. On a final note they did end up soaping, I think it was two spots but could have been more

As someone who also just went through this, it's flat out disrespectful of the program. Applicants spend time and money to make it these interviews. Some spend A LOT just to make it to even one. You also have to remember not everyone is going to have a ton of interviews to just not worry about a program and just "leave it off your list". If an applicant with 5 interviews gets this post IV communication telling them they're essentially not even ranked, then how will they feel about the other 4 interviews?
The program can internally feel however they want about an applicant, but they need to keep it to themselves.

If you’re more comfortable in a state of ignorant bliss then yeah I could see why a program informing you where you stand is not ideal. However it’s better to know if out of your 5 ranks that one of them is not likely. Go ahead and rank it, but better to know than not know that you should be expecting a X% of matching of 4 ranks vs the 5 ranks you actually have listed.
As for the time and money argument, they told you this post interview, not before. If you show up and they said you have no chance, that’s a jerk move. But it’s afterwards. It’s perfectly reasonable. The stress and anxiety will never leave this process.
Tl;dr More information is better to more appropriately understand your chance of matching and need to post match back up plans.

Is that NYU match for IM (even if prelim) for the main NYU NYC campus?! If so that’s a first in DO history! Or is it the NYU Brooklyn or NYU Long Island Hospital campus?
Number not correct. I know at least one student that didn't SOAP, he may have scrambled tho. Ugly AF either way

UCSF Fresno IM isn't a competitive program. It's very IMG, FMG, and DO friendly.

Happens at some ortho programs every year. I’d rather know that I won’t be matching there and have back up plans. But that’s ortho, with EM, they probably turned off applicants.

Yeah, the quoted post kinda emphasizes the pre-med naivete and the pointlessness of them trying to interpret match results at their stage.
Fresno is nearly all Caribbean grads for some reason. Not that it isn't a good program and you will get trained well, but it isn't competitive.
Like why is another poster browsing this thread when they have to ask what NRMP and SOAP means?
Have a list of your accepted schools first, and then maybe use their match list to attempt to arrange the programs. Even then, there are better means of narrowing your choices, and match lists can drastically change in 4 years.

Those matches are unlikely to be at THE Jefferson in Philly. They are almost certainly referring to the hospital system formerly known as Kennedy Health (based in Stratford, NJ), which recently changed its name after being acquired by Jefferson in the merger. It has a ton of formerly AOA residencies (including ortho), and is the main rotation site for Rowan SOM students.

Guys i apologize for the confusion lol the Rowan Ortho match was not ACGME Jeff. It is rowansom/Jeff AOA in stratford. Kind of a big difference lmao. The Jeffs in other specialties are THE Jeff in philly however

It’s a community hospital. First DO they’ve taken in 4 years. Abington has the second highest birthing volume in all of Pennsylvania.
As far as how competitive the program is? No idea. Just wanted to add to that list lol

Well we haven't hit even 30 pages yet. Theres weeks more of fun coming here. I happen to know a match is coming that will make this thread go bonkers
. The argument on whether the program is top tier or not will be great.
