2020-2021 Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences (Joplin) KCU-COM

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Hah, strange. I saw 24th and 29th. It must randomly show some dates to people or something because it wouldn't make sense for you to see the 22nd and not 24th and me to see 24th and not 22nd.
Lol my mistake I think you're right it was 24th and 29th - I think I'm confusing it with another date I had in mind for something else. Sorry for the confusion

"Your application to KCU-COM is complete and you are in a qualified status, which means you have met our academic criteria. The first review of your application did not result in an interview invitation. The application cycle continues throughout the year, so your application will be reviewed periodically. You will be notified via email if your status changes".

So this means I did not get an interview? MCAT 509 and GPA 3.67

I got this same email. I think it means we're kinda on a interview "waitlist" I would assume, someone correct me if I am mistaken.

I would say it is a good quality program. They work well around the DO curriculum, but also deliver quality material and knowledge. It is challenging, but I have been learning a lot from it. I never took a business class in undergrad and they are still manageable for me to complete. Many have been successful in match prospects with the MBA as well. Each person in the program has different goals with it, but we also are able to work together and learn from each other. The guys in charge have experience in healthcare business so they come with lots of real world experience and examples as well.
awesome! thank you for the info.

Any canadians at kcu that could dm me? I have a few questions!

For those of you receiving the complete email, when did you submit your secondary application?

Just received the secondary application (primary verified in mid-June). Anyone know if it's worth the time and money to submit it this "late" in the cycle, possibly based on previous years?

I submitted my secondary by this time. And now I am a third year student. You are good time wise

I am submitting the primary tot KCU COM today and was wondering how should I address this question?
" Please use the space below to offer the Admissions Committee any information you would like to be taken into consideration regarding your transcripts or MCAT scores. "

So the only bad grade on my transcript is a C that I got in a history class because one of my assignments did not upload properly on blackboard. I retook the class next semester and got an A in the class.

Now about the MCAT - My previous MCAT score was 500 and I retook it for a score that's above average for DO schools. Should I talk about this too? Not sure how to talk about my low MCAT score?

I saw quite a few previous comments about the payment page on the secondary app submission, any luck with this? I completed my secondary app and emailed them on monday, but they just asked for a screenshot and still no change.

Just leave it blank, as there's no reason to bring up negatives. If KCU wants more information, they'll ask.

Seconded on the leave it blank. A single C isn't a big deal and even a 500 is within the realm of reason for DO, never mind the higher retake.

Thank you for replying and A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS ON THAT A

This may have already been answered, but are there separate interviews for each campus or is it just one interview for both? The interview invite just says KCU-COM and I selected both for campus so was just wondering.

Me too! Do you know if December is late for an interview in the cycle??

II last Monday, but SDN was taking its sweet time getting my account approved. cGPA 3.27, sGPA 3.18 and MCAT 518.

Does anyone know if they're doing interviews for specific locations or are interviews for both campuses? I put no preference so I'm not sure. Also, when will the zoom link and NDA be sent? My interview is next monday and I haven't heard anything.

The II email I received has the university address at the bottom as Kansas City, MO. Does this mean im being considered for the kansas city campus?

not allowed to speak about it because of the NDA but you get emailed a prompt and just have to send it back

You don't have to give details but how does one prepare for the email activity? I'm interviewing in December and want to be well prepared. Thank you

Honestly, it wasn't very difficult and was very similar to a regular interview question except you had to write it out. All I did to prep was study the regular interview questions for most DO schools and the ones from the SDN interview page and I felt well prepared for the prompt.

Are you allowed to speak about what is the school's biggest selling point or how you felt about the questions asked?
Yeah for sure! Honestly, so far I've found that this is the friendliest interview that I've had - they are so kind and generous and it's really like a conversation with someone you know. And I'd say most of the questions asked to me were your classic med interview questions (just prepare like you would any other). I literally just practiced from the interview feedback page and it went well - Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences College of Osteopathic Medicine - KC

Interviewed today and I loved the program! Y’all with future interviews are in for a treat, everyone was a gem.

No. If you selected a preference for a specific campus with your application you will be considered for that campus only. If you selected no preference you will be considered for both campuses. The site that your interview is (if its in person and I know we dont have in person interviews rn) or where your interviewers are from has no influence on the campus you will be accepted into.
