KC is a bigger city therefore people tend to prefer going there, but otherwise, I’m not sure what you mean by superior. They have the same curriculum and even same exact classes sometimes. The Joplin campus is newer so I guess it would be considered superior in that sense if you think of it like that.

For the stethoscope KCU requires, does it need to be the Littmann Cardiology IV? I already have the III Classic that I was gifted for my gap year job and don’t really want to get another one. TYIA!!!

No it can be any stethoscope they aren't picky, they don't even check them

I meant in things like access to research and other resources. I figured the city would be an attraction haha

Also very important distinction of Match Rate vs Placement Rate. You all have probably heard them tell you 98% or 99% "match" each year. This is simply not true. What they are telling you is the placement rate.
The difference is Match Rate is what percent of people get an email Monday morning saying "Congrats you have matched."
Placement rate is the people who match, but also people who SOAP, Scramble or get a research position.
They are not the same.

Where you guys are staying? I see most of the apartment are 1300+ for studio.

No but you should watch the video, make a chart/list, and share it with all of us 🤣
I made this from their map. I didn't include where each person matched.

I'm not sure if it includes SOAP & Post SOAP placements. I'm also not sure how accurate my chart is.

You can get a better view of where people matched in specific specialties if you click on their map here, then click the drop down menu on the left, and it gives a list of all the specialties (that you can click on and see where they matched). I copied that into this excel sheet and sorted it.

Edit: updated order

for those of you waitlisted, does it show that status somewhere on your workday account? i remember someone saying it does but i can't find it

Does KCU provide any devices to admitted students? iPads, MacBooks, etc.?
You will get an iPad at orientation for taking exams etc. I kept mine but got a second larger iPad for note taking. I used the smaller iPad they gave us for anatomy lab and streaming lectures and the larger one for taking notes. That has worked well for me.

Not necessary at all but it has been good. Many of my friends used their school issue iPads and have had no complaints. I just wanted a larger screen.

I just wanted to post for any of you I may have scared about the workload on a previous post. I am now at the end of first year am done with anatomy lab. We are in our MOD block, and I am getting a glimpse of second year schedule which many second years assured me was much better. I can attest that it is much much better. First year is intense but now that anatomy lab is over I feel like I have a huge amount of free time. I am still studying hard and focusing on MOD, but I have more flexibility in my schedule which I really love.

Question for current accepted students, are we supposed to be paying for this immunization and background check out of our own pocket?

It’s frustrating but yeah. The thing is, any school you get accepted school will require you are up to date on everything, so get it done sooner than later. A friend of mine almost didn’t matriculate because their titers weren’t good so they had to redo a round of shots and it took an extra month or so because the shots had to be scheduled out.

It’s better to just get it done earlier and not worry about it.

I have a general question, are in person interviews given at an earlier date compared to virtual

based on my experience, i don't think so- I got my interview invite back in July and interviewed in September virtually. but I remember there being an option for both in-person and virtual when selecting a date

How do current students study? Do you guys mostly focus on working through in-house material or do you find that outside resources and Anking decks are more helpful?

Most work through the in house material that the faculty provides. Anki/ninja nerd/other 3rd parties are good as supplement help, but the test questions come from the power points the professor lectures on

I agree with this. Because the exams are in house you really can’t do well on them if you completely use third party resources.

Id argue that the majority of students do in-house 1st year, and 3rd party 2nd year. Especially if you use anking to study for boards. A large percentage of information they teach 2nd year is beyond the scope of step 1/comlex so many people (myself included) switched to 3rd party to continually board prep. I was still able to pass and was scoring average for in house exam via this method.

That’s good to know. I’m just at the end of first year.
