2022-2023 APPIC Internship Interview Invitation Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Has anyone heard from the Virginia Treatment Center for Children? Their notification deadline has passed and I haven't heard. Based on the spreadsheet, people have gotten spam-like notifications from them?
I got a rejection from them the evening of their notification deadline. It did appear somewhat spam-y but I think it might just be coming through an encrypted system and is a legit notification.

So Asheville VA sent out rejections last week and also made their phone calls the week of Thanksgiving. Anyone know what it might mean if you still haven’t heard either way?

Has anyone actually received an invitation from the Ohio Psychology Internship? I feel like the excel isn’t accurate.
I received an invitation on Thursday for the outpatient forensic track. Haven’t had a chance to update the spreadsheet yet

Edit: I put the info in the spreadsheet

I didn't apply there but I got rejected from a site that had a very similar email sent out...pretty sure they use some sort of encrypted program like @almost-cycologist said

Just wanted to spread some hope. On Friday a site had started calling applicants for interviews (unsure if rejections were sent out?). I wrote them off and received a phone call this morning - after my string of 9 rejections. Might be due to my last name, applicant "ranking" or any other reason - just don't give up hope until you get that rejection email 🙂

Good luck to everyone that has an interview on the 15th. Seems like it is a very important interview day!

Any advice if I should possibly take the day off from practicum. I am unable to be near my phone while I’m at practicum.
I personally would not take off at this point. I'm not sure what type of site you are at, but at most sites I have trained, I had my own caseload scheduled for weeks in advance. Some sites would actually get penalized by their organization when patients were canceled due to a provider issue, so I was always very mindful of this. If I were legitimately ill, that was one thing, but I would not take off last minute for a forseeable event. I would think internship sites know that students have a myriad of commitments and cannot answer the phone and would allow time for a reply. Hope you get great news this week!

That makes sense! I actually got an offer from Virginia Treatment Center for Children just now. Apparently they attempted to send out offers on Friday, but no one got them... they decided to resend offers for this reason.

Thanks! I see it was a personal email so I’ll just keep waiting. I appreciate the update 🙂
Along with this thread...I got an invitation to the open house and in the email it implied that it means I will also get an interview. However, I still haven't received a formal interview invite. Anyone know what's going on?

Is this for WVU?

Thank you for your feedback. I actually only have paperwork that day to do.

Anyone else ever hear from John Hopkins? It is weird to me that they sent out two rounds of mass rejections and calls for interviews and I've heard nothing. What does this meeeean?

Thank you for spreading the hope! SO glad things are looking up 🙂 From one Buffalonian to another, good luck 🙂

For those who received interview confirmations at Bay Pines VA-Have you received the interview itinerary and program information yet? I am worried I missed an email and have checked spam. Thanks!

I'm in the same spot as you! I haven't heard from them either way yet.

Did anyone else get an interview invitation to Cambridge Health Alliance and then get a rejection notice? Cause this just happened to me…
This happened to me today as well! It was pretty surprising and I’m not sure which email to go off of. I emailed them to clarify but haven’t heard back.

I have not even though the confirmation email I was sent on Mon last week said that it would be sent later that day...

Looking for support tonight.

I’m so thankful for the interviews I have, but now I find myself worrying for days after every interview. I initially feel great afterwards and like I did my best, but without fail, I always seem to remember parts where something didn’t come out quite right or I wish I would’ve given a bit more thought before answering after a few hours or days and I just ruminate!

Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same thing?

I went through this whole process last year and can say that there were certainly interviews where this happened. I was pleasantly surprised after one where I was asked an ethics question that I totally bumbled and said, "This is the dilemma, but no, I don't remember the specific ethic" and shrugged. My interviewers later emailed me after the match results and said I was one of the best applicants they had had and they hoped I would reapply if I did not match. Not much of this whole process is actually predictable. I had sites tell me that I seemed like a great match for them, but then when I ranked them high up on my list, I didn't end up matching at all. It's not worth worrying about because so little of this is actually in our control. You can have the most perfect cover letter, 600+ intervention hours, have great recommendation letters, get a great feel for the site, and still not match. Or you can get zero sense from the interviewers whether they liked you or not only to later learn that you left a great impression. Don't beat yourself up.

Has anyone not heard from Rusk? According to the spreadsheet, they've sent rejections and invites, but I've received neither. Between Johns Hopkins All Childrens and Rusk - I just want to hear back from them!!

You are not the only one who has such feelings. I had an interview last Friday and kept recalling the parts that I didn't do well with a lot of frustration. I criticized myself for not being able to say things correctly, nicely, and fluently and blamed myself why I let my anxiety dominate my brain again. I even feel a little traumatized after this interview, almost lost hope for the rest interviews.

I definitely understand. Of course we are going to be beyond anxious because we’ve been told how pivotal this process is for the past 4 years. It’s nerve wracking! Hang in there!

That’s very true. I think I forget sometimes how much of this is out of our control. Thanks for the support!

Just curious if anyone actually ever got at invite from the Charleston consortium after 11/22... I thought it was supposed to be rolling but haven't seen any updates since then!

Just received an email with the subject line "Charleston Consortium" and all it has inside the actual email is the DCTs signature in it...I'm assuming this is a rejection gone wrong hahah 😬

I got the same email... not sure if I should inquire further haha

Hahaha yes I just got that too, followed by a proper rejection.

Thanks for the support! I know that some of my answers to the interview questions didn't come out quite right. I should go back to look for references or answers, in case that someone asks me the same questions next time, but I just can't do it, can't handle how wrong my answers were. I'm a coward.

Noo you’re not a coward! It sounds like the same way where I cover my eyes when I review tapes of cringeworthy sessions and watch through the tiniest space between my fingers. Reviewing our perceived blunders is brutal. Unless you answered with suggestions of blatantly violating the APA Ethics Code or saying you hate our field, how bad could the answers possibly be!

I saw on the google spreadsheet that someone mentioned receiving a rejection from the Mid-Michigan consortium. Was this rejection from a particular track or general? Has anyone received an invited of any type to mid-michigan?

They allude to inpatient rotations in their website and brochure, but apparently have not been providing it for the past several years. Just a heads up in case you were rejected and mentioned inpatient or SMI interest in your cover letter.

What have people been doing if both invites and rejections have gone out for a site, but you haven't heard anything? Now I'm nervous one of my apps was lost in cyberspace
