Just got my secondary today. Is it worth applying at this point? How much do they screen prior to sending secondaries?
 
What seems to be the average turnaround time from submitting your secondary to potentially getting an II?
 
Is there a group chat for people who have been accepted here yet?
 
Accepted via phone call earlier today!! It was one of my interviewers who called and he brought up something we joked about during my interview on 10/6! Good luck to the other applicants!

Does anyone know if Western U gives substantial merit-based scholarships? Because that would honestly be a game changer since SoCal is where my partner and I eventually want to settle down.

I got an email about a need based scholarship, but not merit. From what I’ve gathered from basic research, merit scholarships are not as common amongst DO (relative to MD).

Was the scholarship included with your offer letter or did it come later? And did you submit your FAFSA to them?

Later and no. I probably wouldn’t qualify for need based because, despite the fact I’m an independent, they ask for parent income.
 
Do any students who have interviewed this cycle have any feedback or tips?
 
Roughly how long did it take for you to hear back from the school everyone?
 
For those that received IIs recently, how far out are they currently scheduling interviews?
 
I am a current student at the COMP-NW campus and asked about the accreditation thing as it had concerned me as well, I got a pretty quick reply and it was this "It was over a misunderstanding of the number of 4th-year non-CORE emergency medicine rotations for which we have over 460 the necessary minimum is 320." They have already appealed the accreditation decision and plan on hearing back at the end of November. That was the reason given to me and I thought it might ease any worries regarding this.
 
It took about 48 hours for me!

Funny story: The acceptance call woke me up from a nap and then the status change email came when I was at a concert. Western COMP reaches out to me at the most inconvenient times. Also, I can't listen to that band without thinking about COMP lol

Would you be able to share what time you got contacted either here or through DM? I interviewed 10/13 and am still waiting so I’m sweating a little bit haha.
 
I just checked my portal and saw "Reply to Offer of Admission 2023, Status: Awaiting", does this mean I got accepted? Interviewed 10/13.
 
Got the post II R 🙁 IS 3.67GPA and 511 MCAT. I have an A elsewhere but location wise this would’ve been more ideal. Interview went well I thought and so did the MMI. I think I shot myself in the foot with my answer about other II’s or acceptances.

Interviewed 10/13, got the A call in the morning and status update e-mail this evening!
 
Congrats to everyone on the A!

How long did it take to receive a secondary from here? I received 2-3 emails a week from this school asking me to apply. I submit and now it’s radio silence. 😕
