If I have to pick between KCUCOM and CNUCOM which one should I pick? CNUCOM commit to enroll date is May 30th. I am on the waitlist for another school but highly unlikely for it to come through in the next 2-3 days.

I would make a pro/con post in the med school x vs y forum. People are pretty responsive there

just PMed you since I’m in a somewhat similar position, but for me it’s DMU, which I’d love to attend over CNU

Just Committed!! Had some great talks with the faculty I’m super excited!
Really? Can you elaborate a little bit? I am so worried about the tuition, the private loans, it is so much more expensive then most schools. Please talk me into committing as well haha.

It’s definitely expensive which admittedly does worry me some but, the faculty I have talked to have been so warm and seem like the genuinely love teaching students. I also have talked to 2 students, an MS1 and one that just matched to a great academic program. Besides a couple small things they raved about the program. Full transparency I only got 2 II this cycle, I got into CNU in December and waitlisted at the other school. I don’t want to over sell you or anything but I’m excited to start.

have you considered hpsp? a couple of my friends at north state are doing that to avoid the private loans

I committed to CNUCOM also. If you have any ideas for a better rate on private loans(if you plan to take loans) please let me know! I think that is the biggest drawback.

Hi guys I have a dilemma and would like your guys’s opinion. I am fortunate enough to have an acceptance from CNUCOM. I visited the campus and met a bunch of students and things seem positive and on the up. However the accreditation is something that is a little nerve wracking. My other option is WESTERNU, however I have to pay a deposit tomorrow. My first choice is CNUCOM due to its location close to home and my support system and the fact that it is Md with good matches and I have some connection with the students at the university. However with uncertainty regarding the accreditation I have through about going to western I have some family around the school and really liked the faculty as well. What would you guys do in such a situation.

i've heard they are pretty confident about getting fully accredited this year but dk in detail. I've personally worked with a lot of CNU med students and they are all amazing and pretty passionate about what they do. Just remember CNU doesn't offer federal loans and if that is smth you're not worried about then CNU might be a good option. I live pretty close to the school so would have surely considered this over my OOS acceptances if I wasn't ghosted by them but take it with a grain of salt

Hey, I’m in a similar position and totally understand the dilemma. CNUCOM being an MD program and close to home are definite pros, especially if you’ve already built connections with students there. That said, the uncertainty around accreditation is not something to brush off lightly. Without full accreditation, things like residency eligibility and federal loans could be impacted down the line. WesternU is fully accredited and has a strong reputation in the DO world with solid match rates and if you liked the faculty and have family nearby, it might offer more stability and peace of mind. If it were me, I’d probably secure my spot at WesternU (even if it means paying the deposit) unless CNUCOM gives concrete updates about their accreditation status very soon. Stability matters in med school, and you don’t want to be in limbo later. Just my two cents, but wishing you the best with whichever path you choose!

Thank you so much for your input. Yes I do think that maybe securing my spot until concrete developments occur mjght be the way to go, give. That I can secure the financial side by paying the deposit.

Thanks you so much for your input. Yeah they do seem confident which is good but the absence of federal loans is certainly not the best. Hoping you hear back from them soon

Tbh, either choice is fine as long as you're not going for a super competitive specialty like derm. And if CNU's accreditation is still unconfirmed + its private loan issues, then you might have to be reconsidering at this point whether you want CNU or western

Thanks a lot for the input. Yeah I think just having WESTERNU as a security blanket is something that I would like to have.

this friday is going to be 9 weeks since my interview and they still haven't given me an initial decision lol

it's been 10 weeks since my interview on tmw and they still haven't given me a decision yet :/

Hey guys, yesterday, CNU received full accreditation!! The dean sent the below email to all the medical students.

it's been 10 weeks since my interview and they still haven't said anything, when I try to reach them, the call gets cut 🙁

I'm really sorry that they haven't been answering your calls. At this point I would have to assume they aren't going to be admitting any more students. The Facebook group is at 134 members, and they only take 118 students per year. Even accounting for some of the group members being M2 admins & students that opted to go elsewhere but hadn't left the group, it seems likely that they're done with admissions at this point. I hope things go well for you in the future; I've been through the reapplication process before and can sympathize.
