Remember to schedule your Casper exam. The results are required to be eligible for interviews.

Hello everyone! Does anyone know how big of a role the CASPer exam plays into interview selection? I didn't do as well as I thought I would on it. I have good stats but now I'm worried that the CASPer might be looked at as a red flag. Do I just have to make up for it in the interview if I'm selected for one? Thanks! 🙂

They advertise their interview as MMI, or mini multiple interview, format, during which you have a a handful of shorter interviews. Often those types of interview styles have some ethical dilemmas interspersed within the other interviews, so I'd imagine you'd have an opportunity to make up for it. Alternatively, you could take AAMC PREview and see if you score better on that, as I believe they are accepting either PREview or CASPer scores this year.

N=1 so take what I say with a grain of salt. I applied this last cycle and was accepted with a 1st quartile CASPer, 3.3cGPA and 506 MCAT. I am non traditional and have about a decades worth of EC’s and glowing LORs. They have an idea of the kind of student they are looking for and it appears as if a lower CASPer is not a make or break for an interview invitation. If you’re invited for an interview, the MMI will definitely give you a chance to make up for a lower CASPer so make sure you practice! Good luck!

Also got an II here with a 1st quartile. Didnt get accepted as I’ve been WL, but it’s clear a bad Casper isn’t a dealbreaker, although it may definitely hurt your chances of gettting an II or being accepted

They ask for a residency history, a photo, names of pre-req courses, and some ties to UVM.

Good luck to everyone!

I applied here with no ties whatsoever (west coast best coast). Could I get screened out bc of this?

OOS Secondary received. Also, it says casper has not been received yet, but mine was sent like 3 weeks ago. Is this just a delay on Vermonts end?

Can someone tell me why they want my speeding ticket history? 🤣 I got let off with a warning about nine months ago so I don't have to report but still. Seems a little excessive.

What if you can't remember the details of the speeding ticket you got a few years back?

Received secondary (OOS, verified 06/21)

anyone else have their casper score not showing up in the status bar of the Vermont secondary?

Yep, and I completed CASPER on 6/11. I guess they say it takes 2-3 weeks for schools to get it, and technically 3 weeks haven't passed for me. When did you take the exam?

Mine was sent to schools a few weeks ago. I hope by tmrw it’s processed. You can check on Altius if they’ve been sent yet.

Is it just me or does Vermont not have an option for distributing for Casper

There is an option on Altuis for sending Casper to them. Do you mean in the portal?

How did people approach the professionalism question? I definitely have experiences that demonstrate professionalism, but I'm unsure as to how my "definition" changed over time

I admitted that at one time I did not understand the true meaning of professionalism, then my first clinical job changed that because I understood it as more of a mode of being

I talked about different experiences where I learned and highlighted different parts of professionalism. So I guess I approached it as an evolving understanding of professionalism.

OOS Secondary received 7/1 and submitted 7/8
I've been struggling with a sinus infection/flu/COVID/whatever I got at the clinic. It was enjoyable digging in and learning more about this school. It's in my favorite part of the country, which I have loved since being a camp counselor in Maine. Hopefully there is a search and rescue team I can transfer to and get involved with around Burlington.

I talked about how originally I viewed professionalism as technical/clinical competence but through an experience I have learned it embodies both technical and ethical competencies

For the residency history question under supplemental application, are they asking for an essay about where you are from or more something along the lines of bullet points? Thanks!

Just received an interview offer! Is anyone having trouble using the portal to pick an interview day?
You do have to upload a photo AND answer the dietary/accommodation survey. Then it should allow you to pick a day. Feel free to DM me if you have continued issues. 🙂

Thank you! I did that but then needed to refresh the page, and then it worked 🙂
