2025-2026 Drexel Pathway to Medical Application Cycle (DPMS)

I just wish there was a system for students who didn’t get accepted or even interviewed, where we could still have a shot at getting in by hitting higher GPA and/or MCAT goals while in the program.

I still haven't heard back. I honestly don't think I'm in the race anymore based on reading last year's thread. Not sure if they will send anymore interviews since they already sent out acceptances. From last year's thread, no one received an interview invite after the first round of acceptance were sent out.
Oh no. This is frightening. Do you feel comfortable sharing your stats?

can i ask when you submitted your application?

Some students received II in May in the last two cycles. It’s way too early to lose hope. It’s not over yet.
Yes that's true, but i didnt see anyone receive an II after first round of acceptance. maybe the timeline changed, not sure. still hoping for the best.

For those who have been accepted- does anyone know when the deadline is to commit/sign their offer?

I did get an interview but i havent gotten accepted yet, if you want you can pm me and I can look at your app with you to see what we can change so you can apply again. In 2022 I applied and got rejected pre-ii, and didnt apply again until this cycle and got an interview. lmk

Did they switch the format from traditional to MMI interview this year?? Are they actually doing this during the slot times. Also if anyone has already completed interview and been accepted can they share their interview experience. Thank you guys.
Yes they did!

Are there any hidden terms or conditions besides the gpa/mcat? Also what do you do all summer?

No hidden terms/conditions besides the GPA/MCAT. It's as simple as if you meet the requirements, you're in. The summer is used to prepare you for what is to come in the fall, that way you can hit the ground running for the first few exams.

You get a preview of some material (not a lot, tbh) of first exam content for biochemistry, third exam content for physiology, content for immunology, first exam content for microanatomy and take mini-exams to see how your study methods are serving you. This is a very low stakes environment, as you take all these mini-exams under one P/F course. You will also be learning some aspects of professionalism, have orientation on the different campuses, what you can expect, presentations on topics you will cover throughout the year, and information on Philly survival (apartment hunting, places to go, etc).

You will also take two graded courses being medical terminology and accelerated biostatistics which are not difficult at all. Also, keep in mind you will be dorming for the summer session to give you time to find an apartment (staying at the dorms is not mandatory, however).

Hope this helps!

Thank you so much! Is the dorm funded? Will we have access to financial aid & loan disbursements during this time?

Hi! Any housing suggestions for those who can't live in the dorms over the summer? They said no families or pets during the interview. Or just for those who rather live in a studio/1br?

The dorm is funded by your student loans! I don't quite remember the whole process of when they told us to apply for student loans, but it was the case for our cohort and previous ones that the student loans did not disperse until about mid-July. Would highly recommend having some money for food for the first two weeks!

I would start looking for apartments in the University City, Spruce Hill, Cedar Park, select parts of Mantua, Center City (rittenhouse square, graduate hospital, chinatown areas). Most places in Philly will require a first and last's month of rent and a security deposit due upfront!

Your TA's in the summer will go into more depth of good areas to look into, what to consider, safety, and so on. I would personally consider prioritizing transportation to campus just to make your life easier and avoid delays on exam days, mandatory meetings, etc.

based on the academic calendar, would it make sense to sign a one year lease? or how long would the dorm lease be?

Was the summer session helpful in getting used to the flipped classroom approach? How often are exams in the fall and spring semester?

Yes, I would only sign a one-year lease. Preferably to end in July if you can. Your length of stay in the dorms spans all 7 weeks or so of the summer semester, and you may be granted an extension or another week or two if you're still finalizing your living situation.

It will help somewhat, but you’ll adapt fairly quickly once things are in motion. During the summer session, you’ll spend several days in person. However, once the fall semester begins, in-person sessions may drop to just 1–2 per week for TBLs, and these are typically non-mandatory.

Exams during the fall and spring occur every 2.5 to 3 weeks. However, you may have heard of the trifecta, which takes place sometime at the end of October. For Track 2 students, you can expect another "trifecta" at the end of the fall semester and halfway through the spring. Keep in mind that exams for all classes are often stacked within 1–2 days of each other, or may even occur on the same day.

Thanks! Any ideas on what kind of prices we'd be looking at to live alone? And would you recommend selling our cars instead of bringing them?

Also, congrats on finishing the year!

Thank you!! You can expect to pay anywhere from $900-$1100 for a studio depending on the area. I personally do not own a vehicle, so I can't speak too much on this topic, but all I can say is that a lot of people in the cohort were getting ticketed left and right lol

You will need a car eventually for med school though in the event you get sent to West Reading or for rotations down the line in M3.

Does anyone know if there’s a fb group or similar with last students of DPMS/drexelmed to discuss lease or apartment takeovers?

Also wondering if anyone else has a dog and what they plan to do during those summer months? I’m thinking might get an apartment starting July [emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]]] since I won’t be able to stay in the dorms

What areas are dog friendly but also close to campus? A backyard and a parking spot would be amazing but I’ll settle for what I can get lol
