Misc Info/Things not stated elsewhere/Red Flags:

No letter from dentist?

School list:
I’m specifically asking for advice on whether I should retake my DAT for Columbia/Harvard because these 2 schools seem to be the most stat-focused. This is obviously not my entire school list; I’m just wondering if my apps to Columbia/Harvard warrant retaking a DAT or if I shouldn’t bother. I’m a bit concerned about my low(er) TS and PAT scores.

I’ve already submitted to Columbia/Harvard in late June but I have NOT yet told them to hold my application for review. The soonest I can retake the DAT is August 26, but this gives me pause because it would essentially turn my app into a September submission since the DAT takes 3-4 weeks to process (basically forcing me to convert my early submissions into late submissions, but with potentially higher scores).

Is it more advantageous for my apps to Columbia/Harvard if I retake the DAT on August 26 (and get potentially higher scores), or is it better to keep my June-submitted apps with my current score? Specifically, I’m wondering if Columbia is the type of school to accept an applicant like me with a (hopefully after retaking) 25AA or 26AA whose app is “verified” in September, or if there’s a higher chance they’ll take an applicant like me with a 24AA whose app was verified in July.

Thank you!

are you sure you can score higher on a retake?

Dude don’t be annoying

I would say the same to you. Ask yourself: what about their personal aspirations bother you so much that you would resort to this? You don’t have to agree to be decent. You also don’t have to respond…

Your DAT score is acceptable…well, beyond acceptable. Allow the remainder of your application to represent you!

Thank you!
I think many students with a 25+ AA received interviews yesterday. Your RC and QR are really high (really impressive), but your TS and PAT is not as high. I've heard that some schools prioritize RC over TS, so maybe looking into those would help. Don't think anyone would recommend retaking the DAT (for obvious reasons haha), but if you do, improving TS and PAT scores would definitely help. Gen Chem and Orgo should take a shorter time to study and make sure to consistently practice PAT problems before you reattempt.

Considering that Columbia sent their invites yesterday, I would hold off on retaking the DAT since there are fewer spots now.

are you sure you can score higher on a retake?
I'm pretty sure I can score higher on a retake, but it'll probably be around a 25AA because I'm not sure if I can repeat a 30RC. I'm almost definitely certain I can yield strong improvements in GenChem though. My bifurcated scores were a result of my prehealth advisor convincing me in late May to take the DAT in June and apply this cycle, even though I wasn't originally planning on applying this cycle. I've traditionally been good at standardized tests, but I had little time to memorize the material necessary for OChem and Bio in the 1 month or so I was able to prepare for the DAT.

I like this attitude!
Please don't retake your DAT.

Yeah I'm leaning toward not retaking my DAT now. I was not one of the students who received an interview invite, but since there are fewer spots now I'm thinking a September-verified application even with a higher DAT score would not be very beneficial or at all.

Retaking is an extremely dumb idea. If you do worse you've shot yourself in the foot tremendously. Take your 96th percentile score and accept that whatever happens, happens!

You don't need to go to an ivy league school to get a great education...you can specialize going to any school if that's your main concern.

Stop comparing. It's only the first group of interviews. You have more months and II opportunities to go. If your application passes their holistic screening, you'll hear from them.
