NBPME announcing cancellation day before NBOME announces so they don’t look like “we” (pods) just follow whatever NBOME does. When in reality the only reason this exam exists for podiatry is because they saw it as a cash grab just like the nbome lol.

In reality the nbome follows whatever the MD’s do and the nbpme follows whatever the nbome does. Should the hierarchy be this way? No. But it is what it is. An early congrats to all the people itt who fought the nbome. It’s inevitable now that the exam is cancelled.

to the class of 2021, MD/DO/DPM, good luck on match and look forward to working with you all in the future. I hope the licensing boards for each profession gets better as time goes on. My suggestion is younger blood on these licensing boards who can empathize with current students. Looking back the delays of this exam was down right pathetic. They have fought for nearly a year now to take all of our money and they should be ashamed.

No way they don’t cancel it for class of 22 if they cancel it for 21. “We’re going to forego safety and put out a bunch of unsafe doctors this year” isn’t a great look if they try and stick to the “safety” argument. And if they get rid of 21, it just proves that the test isn’t necessary, at all.
My thoughts are similar but if podiatry is only cancelling for one class they can just jump on the same bandwagon. At least for now, which is why if they do only cancel for '21 we need to keep making our voices heard.

"Each Thursday, we plan to share weekly public updates on our website."

Why would they say this in last week's email if they planned to cancel the exam? It would only need 1 update not weekly lol. That email is somber but a lot of it talks about continued dialogue and a way to reach out to them. That doesn't sound like someone who made a decision IMO.

"With next Thursday’s update, we will provide a timeline and method for all interested parties—both organizations and individuals—to share their thoughts, ideas and concerns with us. This will ensure that your valuable and professional feedback is shared directly with those of us who are committed to finding the best path forward. Please continue to check our website for updates."

Unless we are lucky and this is a way for "stakeholders" (vomit) to figure out the next move after canceling/postponing?

Press X to doubt.

This is my theory: They will do a few of these weekly updates to make it seem like they are giving this decision a lot of thought. Then, they will ultimately cancel the PE. Their weekly updates will make it seem like they aren't just following big brother NBME like they usually do. It will be their "own" conclusion, their "own" decision. A decision that they made in a transparent, thoughtful manner. They have to protect the public. They can't be making rash decisions all willy-nilly!

But then again, I'm probably giving them way too much credit... And being hopelessly optimistic at this point.

I think that's how it happened with whole pass/fail Level 1 thing too.

You know what, I have an idea though, how old is the Gimpster? 60, 65? What about we institute a Level 4 PE-S(eniors) so that we can make sure that the older more wise osteopathic doctors are keeping up with their cranial and chapman's? Maybe SOMA can bring this up at their next meeting... I wouldn't want them going willy-nilly harming the public, besides, they never took the Level 2-PE so who are we to know?

That is the thing! How can he be so adamant to maintain an exam that he literally never took??? Is he out there “harming the public” probably

The really ironic thing is that I do have realistic, serious worry that these admin docs would hurt someone if they went back to patient care after bull****ting every day for decades lol.

Logically, I agree with you though. I think the main issue a lot of us have is how logically dishonest the NBOME is on this. If they just said it was about money I would respect them about 5% more and chalk it up to how the world works. But every single way I can reason this from their perspective is completely flawed and BS.

That's a pathognomonic sign of making an unethical and stupid decision: having to contort reasoning in every direction to fit your goal versus using reasoning to come to the correct decision. Classic case. Very high yield for board examination purposes.

Exactly. And this weeks update isn’t even an update.

“With next Thursday’s update, we will provide a timeline and method for all interested parties—both organizations and individuals—to share their thoughts, ideas and concerns with us.”

They are literally only going to tell us their timeline for giving us direction lol

They really need to announce a cancellation today. This constant back and forth and grasping at straws for the NBOME is beyond pathetic.
If the NBME and Podiatry folks could do the right thing and swallow the loss of income, then the NBOME can too.

The way we have been led on and mistreated for the past year has been utterly shameful. We are merely income streams for these people.

During the first town hall last year that Gimple attended. Before he deleted his Twitter and went offline. He said during that video conference - "you don't have to like us, buy you still have to take the test."

That keeps playing in my head. I really hope this gets cancelled so his words come back to bite him in the ass. "We can hate you and we don't have to take your silly exam."

Cancellation for 2021 until after level 3 is my prediction sadly
I can’t see any universe where they force us to take the PE after we pass Level 3. Level 3 is where we get our license. The NBOME has no power at that point and state boards who never sanctioned the PE or CS literally don’t care about it.

Hopefully we get something. I predict they allow Level 3 to be taken before PE. Even that's probably pushing it.
That and relieving the class of 2022 of it being a graduation requirement, but still making it mandatory to take to get your license. That way residencies don't have to deal with interns missing time, it helps the backlog (by allowing them to open more sites) and taking some of the pressure off of the system at the moment, and they keep their sweet income. However, this is all speculation and I expect them to do nothing.

Guys, my PE date is gone from the NBOME website.....like the whole history showing "canceled" for past dates etc is gone.
Mine is gone too. I hope this is good news. EDIT: there is a note under PE scheduling that says "PE scheduling is temporarily unavailable as we make improvements to expedite the user experience." Don't get your hopes up.

LOL I just went through this exact sequence of feelings

Do they normally erase all prior dates and scheduled dates for PE when they do this “maintenance”?

The dates disappeared earlier this year right before they dropped new dates. My prediction: they announce their timeline of opening Fresno and in the meantime drop new dates to allow C/O 2021 to test before residency start.

Edit: which is of course dumb AF and they need to just cancel it. But I am basing my prediction off of past behavior

My PE date (some time between Oct and Dec) is just straight up gone. Only my Level 1 score is listed. Class of '22.

Mine's gone too. It was for September 2021.

Edit: Also if you try to schedule a date, most of the dates are still booked till January 2022, at least at Chicago.

"Special Note:
Due to the continued changes related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the NBOME waives the rescheduling/cancellation fee for COMLEX-USA Level 2-PE examinations that are scheduled between now and 07/31/2021. This situation will continue to be monitored on a regular basis."

Note the date. These ****ers are gonna push the date back again lol.

Gotta make room for those April dates!

True, but my history showing my cancellations and stuff has never disappeared before.

That has been there for a bit. Way before today’s “maintenance”
