It seems like it’s about time to have one of these. Also, when are they going to update the application statistics on the SF match from last year’s cycle?

WVU ACTA , gem of a program! with very low cost of living during fellowship + many moonlighting opp (attending pay) . Put it on your list!
 
Looks like some programs are still requesting a copy of our MSPE and unofficial med school transcripts.

Last year, there were about 10 open spots after the match, which was an improvement (for the programs' standpoint) than the year before. Whether 2024 was an inflection point or an anomaly in a continuing trend is anyone's guess. Your ACTA PDs should know the most recent stats. The applicants should know the current job market for new grads better than anyone else. As always, do a fellowship because you really want to.
 
Anyone start to hear back from programs yet or still too early?
 
I haven't heard about any interviews, although it looks like Duke sent out invites around this time last year.

Do any of the places your applying require you to email these to them? I am applying crit care and I’m wondering if that got left on their how to apply section from the past or if some programs want people emailing them outside the SF match? Seems like an extra step that could weed people out?

Some places reach out via email and others directly on the application portal. Other places say they don’t want additional documents until they invite you to interview. My guess is that most will reach out if they want the additional documents.

Yeah I have a few places that I am looking at state they require extra things. However, the SF match has no place to upload additional documents so we will see.

THI and Penn gave an email address to send those additional docs

I asked our administrator reach out to those with complete applications to interview in January. We will also interview later applicants on a rolling basis until the deadline.
 
I got University of Kentucky and Cincinnati for interviews. Baylor sent out a request for additional documents but no an interview invite.
 
If anyone else has interview invites at other programs, don’t be shy! Feel free to ruin my Christmas with jealousy.

It is a good program. Most important IMHO is how much work ethic are you and other applicants bringing to the fellowship??
All accredited programs will provide you the tools to succeed. The faculty can't take exams for you and micromanage your lifelong learning. The same sentiment goes for residency.

My former co-fellow is faculty there. Small pool of faculty overall but pretty good case complexity and lots of TEE including for structural heart cases.
 
anyone with interviews so far? specifically from any of the harvards? penn? stanford?
 
Stanford had previously said "Considering the busy application season and holidays, you should hear back from us by January 2025 regarding a decision." interviews in March.
 
Anyone else still expecting an interview from THI/Baylor? Will there be another wave of interviews?

There are still a few slots open at each of their February/March interviews. Not sure if they’ll plan for another wave.
 
Haven't heard from Duke or Chicagoland or much of the midwest. California friends anyone hear from UCLA/UCSD/Cedars?
 
ive heard from a couple california programs
i know this has been asked in previous threads but generally speaking what programs are in the top tier of cardiac anesthesia fellowships? everyone i ask has different answers. Looking to do my own cases at least 50% of the time.

Seems like 5-8 from previous threads. I’d feel reasonably ok with 3 including a home program.

Definitely not for THI, but I'm not sure about Penn since I didn't get an interview there last cycle. Cleveland clinic was the only place that required it for me
 
on a slightly different topic - what kinds of questions are people asking faculty on these interviews vs saving for fellows?
