Hey guys I have been using this website for help with interview questions and general school discussions but just made an account now to ask a question.
I am a senior Biomedical Engineer at Case Western Reserve University with a 3.6 GPA (3.7 Science GPA) and 11 11 10 MCAT (Phys/Verbal/Bio) from Cleveland, Ohio
Extra-curriculars
I have 2 years of research experience (no publications but several conference presentations including one at the national BMES conference)
About 200 hours of medical volunteering at the Cleveland Clinic
About 40 hours of shadowing at University Hospitals
About 150 hours of non-clinical community service
Leadership positions (VP of Programming of Fraternity, President of BME Society, Lead TA for intro level BME course, Treasurer of Community Service Group)
Model UN club member with 2 appearances at Harvard MUN
Tae Kwon Do Black Belt
Ive been fortunate enough to garner 6 interviews for this cycle but I cant seem to get in anywhere.
Interviewed at Wright State, Toledo, Cincinnati, Saint Louis, and Tufts so far with 1 more at NYMC this Monday.
So far I have not heard from Tufts and was placed on the wait list at every other school. I need advice on what I might do to improve my chances of getting in somewhere off a wait list or what I should do if I were to reapply.
I was told by the Mock Interviewers here at Case I am an above average interviewer and I have come out of every interviewing feeling very solid, but I keep getting wait listed with and Im not sure why. I even contacted one of my interviewers at Toledo after a great interview asking what gives and he responded to me saying his interview response was very positive and I was honestly one of the best candidates he interviewed and he is shocked I did not get in.
I know being on 4 wait lists with 2 chances still out there gives me decent odds to get in somewhere but its been a pretty frustrating experience coming out of each interview feeling like I nailed it and then being wait listed.
I feel like I have a pretty solid blend of research, shadowing, clinical and non clinical volunteering combined with great leadership experiences and some interested non academic extra curricular activities with a decent MCAT and fairly decent GPA considering my school and major and Im not sure what I need to do to improve
Any advice would help
