Hey guys! I'm currently debating between Albert Einstein and Temple University. I was fortunate enough to be offered scholarships to both schools. Temple offered full tuition, while Einstein offered 30k (tuition is 46k). It seems the common knowledge in these situations is to take the free ride and run with it, but I was wondering if anyone could comment on the difference between the schools. Both schools are very far from my hometown so distance from support systems isn't really a factor. My biggest question is does Einstein offer anything that would merit an additional $70-100k in debt? I appreciate any help you guys can offer, I've been waffling back and forth between the two for the last few days and need to make a decision soon!
Pros for Temple
--minimal debt (basically rent, food, and transportation for 4 years)
--Philadelphia seems like a cool city, I have a slight preference for an urban feel
Possible Cons for Temple
-- Honors/High Pass/Pass/ Fail grading
--Seems a little more primary care oriented, my current interests are a bit more academic
Pros for Einstein
--seems to offer slightly better research opportunities
--on campus housing seems to be cheap and convenient, at least for the pre-clinical years
-- Pass/Fail curricula for pre clinicals
--Optional 5th year for research? (not sure if this was a common thing or not)
Cons for Einstein
--I was less impressed with the surrounding neighorhood (though it was covered in snow when I was there)
--I'll have 14k in tuition plus living expenses to take care of
--Several Clinical Sites which may make transportation complicated (I will not own a car)
