All you WW players should check out Among Us
Its an online game (4 to 10 people each) for $5 on PC (not on Mac yet) but free with ads on andriod/iOS phones/tablets.

"village" works together to complete tasks around a space station.
The wolves are out to kill the villagers and stop them from completing tasks.

Looks fun, haven't gotten a chance to play it yet.

You can use this thread to organize a game, I'm looking for 9 other people for a game on my next free weekend 10/17, but other groups should play in the meantime if they're interested.

p.s. The ad-free version ($2) on mobile allows you to host and any players in your game will also be able to play ad free. Since I have a mac, I'm playing on my iPad and have the ad-free version.

@Lawpy do the tag thing you do so well.

Ooh.. really interested in trying this. I think I'm doing a little birthday celebration thing that night so I can't make it for the 17th, but if anyone is interested in another night, tag me.

Oooooh I love the game and I'll have to check my schedule and see if I can play!! Are you planning to do the deliberations over the chat or do a Zoom (or something similar) setup so people can actually talk?

What communication method are you planning on using? There's an in-game text chat but I typically play on my iPad where my typing speed is the slowest (as compared to like my phone or a computer). I have another Among Us group that uses Discord voice chat, and I've heard of some people using Zoom.

What is this game??
So it's a lot like werewolf. Games are usually 10 players with 2 impostors. Impostors win by reaching parity and town wins by eliminating impostors. BUT each side has an alternate win condition that can be achieved sooner. For town, everyone has tasks to complete, and if everyone completes them (ghosts can participate too), then town wins. For impostors, they can sabotage certain areas, and if town doesn't rectify these in time then impostors win.

Also there's not really "rounds" or "days" like most mafia games. Town meetings happen when someone finds a dead body or when someone presses the emergency button (which usually has a limit of once per person per game). So a given round might have 1 kill, no kills, or several kills.

Other quirks, there's no communication outside of meetings. Not even between impostors. And skip votes are allowed and even ideal in some situations.

If you want to see some example games, I'd recommend going to twitch. MANY of the top streamers are streaming Among Us. Personally my favorite is 5uppp. YouTube also has some games, but more commonly just clips.

Thanks for the explanation!

Case by case basis? I know some of us are friends offline, so if its a group of people that seem comfortable discarding anonymity enough for a zoom call, then I say go for it.

Otherwise to be inclusive of people who want to play but stay anonymous, I'd stick with chat.

I am in the same situation, I hate typing on my iPad. And I've recently become accustomed to discord, so I'd even go as far as to set up a server for us if we wanted!

I know you were just talking about discord and that would probably be even better!! I just hate the typing in the game because I'm slow but I can suffer with it if needed

Maybe??? What day and time will this run?

Sorry for my “lack of reading ability”

if you’re short players, my bf would be happy to play

@capri1722 don't feel too bad for me -- I could have taken this **** weeks ago if I were as bold as @vetmedhead

Instead I'm still at like 16% on vetprep aaaahhhh
See this was my plan all along

I just front loaded the stress and self loathing. Now I'll spread the remainder throughout the year like seasoning

although I'm still waiting to hear results aaaaaaaaahhhhh :ninja:

I was about to try to make a rhyme set to "The Night Before Christmas" using "sprinkles of porcine virus" but I lost steam real quick

This is where I'm at right now

Oooo I’ve been wanting to join WW but my attention span would likely fail partway through. I like this idea. Caveat that I might have to withdraw when I get my schedule, but I usually don’t work past 7.

how long do the games typically last?

O wow. For the whole thing? That fast?

Yupp they're fairly quick rounds so people can drop in and out as they want. The first game I want to start around 7ish EST and then we can keep going however long people want to play, or switch to other games (Jackbox, CAH, etc.)

Idk if I'll be free that day, but if I am I would love to play, got the app today and it's a lot of fun!!

My boyfriend plays Among Us with me sometimes with randos, and he likes it OK but complains that everyone is really dumb. I told him he would have so much more fun playing with my genius SDN friends instead.

Also, check out this reddit post on Imposter Strategy, thing is, it really helps you as a crewmate too.

  • Don't prove others' innocence.
It makes your life harder. If the crewmate is gullible, you could say "not pink, I was with them" prompting them to protect you. However, most crewmates are selfish and don't really care about what you say. This happens a lot when you are playing as a crewmate, and you prove somebody else's innocence but they don't say anything back.

Someone just doesn't have warm enough pockets

Are we gonna discord? Then do people talk outside the meetings?
From what I've seen on streams, when people use discord they mute during the gameplay and then unmute during meetings! I've also seen videos where when people die, they can unmute themselves on a separate chat so that all of the ghosts can talk to each other....I have no idea how it works though hahaha
