Anesthesiology app- How many anesthesiology programs to apply to?

228 step 1 (oof I know)
260 step 2
AOA
Mostly honors in clerkships

I'm having trouble deciding how many programs I should apply to. If that step 1 was out of the equation I don't think I'd be asking this question.. but unfortunately it is and given my other stats I don’t know how much I need to compensate for my step 1. I'm not gunning for a top program and I'm from the mid-atlantic region hoping to stay around the area. Any advice?

That's not a simple question to answer. I am not going for anesthesiology but look at how many available spots (especially in the region of your interest), how many applied last year, how many secured a spot. This information is available in Charting Outcomes. Then add the strength of your application, the quiality of your LoRs, relevant sub-Is....

Did I mention this is not a simple question to answer?

Hopefully someone vying for anaesthesiology can share a more meaningful response.
