I did the essay, but i'm don't feel very confident about getting accepted. I think I might make the waitlist but I still don't know. This is the most competitive school I interviewed at and I did well to at the other places, but I got 2 waitlists so I don't think that I am good enough to accept outright at a place like BU, but maybe good enough to come off the waitlist. (fingers crossed)
Good luck everyone

He said the waitlist is extremely short (like ~10 people). so don't count on a waitlist.
kingcer0x said:The size of the waitlist varies considerably from year to year i'm told... they aren't just saying that either as to not get your hopes up. Last year there was little waitlist movement, year before they took like the whole thing...
Wow, my luck must have been really bad because during that year which they "took the whole waitlist", I never came off the waitlist. I kept my file up to date, wrote a letter of intent, etc etc.
jwantuck said:I just got an email from my interviewer on Friday that told me I was accepted to BU. I didn't get a formal letter yet, but I assume they are on the way. Hope this helps everyone out. Oh yeah, and I did not do the optional essay.
was your interviewer on the adcomm, by any chance?

Sorry, obviously they didnt take the whole thing... but there was alot of movement that year. I may have my years mixed up too...
In any case I was just trying to say that there really is no way of knowing how big it is

mjc48 said:so is it normal for interviewers to contact accepted students at BU? has this happened in the past? should the silence i've heard worry me? should i shut up and wait the two days? crap
i wouldn't freak out. i know that at some schools, the interviewer has the OPTION of contacting their accepted interviewees, but not all do it.
plus, i don't think it's realistic for them to be individually e-mailing/calling the hundreds of applicants who got in....
but i could be wrong.
hi all,
i know i'm really nervous now too since i haven't received a phone call but who knows...I actually called the office today to see whether the 29th is definite and the lady i spoke with said that we should hear hopefully by the end of this week..so i asked if the letters have been mailed yet and she said no...so hopefully we'll all know soon..good luck!

I called the BU Admissions office today and asked the same questions. The lady I spoke with politely said that they do not give out admission, waitlist, or rejected status over the phone, and that we would have to wait until our letters arrive to find out our status.
🙁

OK i'll give you kiddies a little inside info, just don't tell anyone it was me:
Not all of your interviewers will call/email you. Those that do probably have enough time to do so, most are busy clinicians and probably won't call you.
HOWEVER, we are hosting a phonathon next Monday at 6pm to call ALL accepted applicants to welcome them to the school, invite them to the second look weekend/open house, etc. I have a feeling you will find out by snail mail before that, i./e. this week, cause we wanted to wait until the mails have gone out to call.
So relax, wait until you get the mail this week, and good luck!
Just to let you guys know... I got a call today from BU for an acceptance.
Good Luck, everyone!!!
Good Luck, everyone!!!
BU, as in the admissions office, or as in your interviewer?
How come the interviewers can call and tell people that they are accepted but the admissions office cant? Im putting off buying my plane ticket for philly this weekend but its just gonna get more expensive. Right now plane tickets are $500 from LA plus hotels and taxi and all that good stuff.
Out of curiosity, for all those who received an acceptance phone call, who did you interview with and were they a researcher or a doc?

You guys have freaked me out. I interviewed with an MD/PhD, and I haven't gotten a call. I hate SDN.
I interviewed with the head pathologist. really nice guy. would have expected him to call actually, so i guess that's a hint...oh well...so does anyone know if we get an email along with the formal letter? not that the extra day will kill me at this point. reading SDN has gotten to be like scratching an itch down to the bone...
Maybe rejections are done by e-mail and acceptances through snail mail and possible interviewer contacts. That way we should know what our status is tomorrow no matter where we fall.
I interviewed with the Biochem prof. and figure he probably would have contacted me by now too. 🙁

I interviewed with a "really nice guy" pathologist too. I'm not sure if he was the "head" pathologist, though, but quite possibly. No call here either.

dr.choc said:Congratulations everyone! JayQuah, I believe that I interviewed the same day as you 😉 ! 👍 👍
Sweetness! Did we meet? Or was it just an awkward staring across the conference room table?
I was the one who was late and dead tired, because I took a red eye flight, landed at 7:30 and made it to the med school at 8:15.
I interviewed on Feb 15th (last day). I am not sure if we met. I remember a few people coming in during the dean's historical presentation of BU 😴 . Most of the day I just stared out into space because I was soooo dang tired. My stomach was growling so loudly that the girl next to me kept giving me the "oh poor baby" sympathy look 😳 . I flew throughout the night (from Cali also) and landed around 5:00ish. I changed clothes in the airport and got to BU around 6ish (after being completely lost and overcharged for a taxi 😡 ). As if reading these boards isnt torture enough, there are several days a week when my local post office "doesnt have time" to deliver to my apartment. Today happens to be one of those days....unless they come in the next hour. (boston area) 😕 🙁
Somebody tell me why the Admissions Office claims that the letters haven't been sent out yet, yet some people aqre getting acceptances already via the post? Are they merely clueless as to the progress of their own process, or did some brave applicant sneak into the Admissions Office in the middle of the night and mail the letters without anyone knowing it? If it is the latter, my hat goes off to you, as soon as I locate one to put on my head.

I get the feeling that they know exactly what is going on but find it easier to lie to us.
I agree. I dont think anybody (or hope that) would come on to SDN and say they got an acceptance in the mail when in fact, they didnt. That means the admissions office did send letters out, but are still claiming they wont be mailed until tomorrow. Oh well.

Haven't got my letter yet...just got an email from my interviewer saying I should be getting a letter "at most any time".
Not a liar,
Jayquah

I was able to set up an account, I have not been accepted. When I logged in it didn't really say anything but had a link about "Financial Assistance Status". When I clicked on that it said:
Unfortunately, we do not currently have an application for financial aid matching your identification number. Please contact the Office of Financial Assistance by telephone or e-mail.
