Anyone accepted to USUHS yet?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I was there that day, but haven't heard anything yet. I thought that they would wait until the 15th to notify us. I'm crossing my fingers for a big fat acceptance.

i interviewed on oct 2. nothing yet. i'm hoping for the 15th as well. at the interview i heard everything from 3-6 and 6-8 weeks, but hopefully they will move quickly.

Also interviewed on Oct. 2nd, no word yet, though I'm anxiously waiting...

What's the closest you've got?

I seem to recall that it wasn't necessarily a requirement, just an option on the LOR Checklist form.

I emailed admissions and was told that first acceptances are coming "very soon." I interviewed Sept 25. 😱

Hey GOS2,

Yikes, "really soon"? I interviewed on 9/25 also and am getting antsy to see if I got in or not....:scared:

TJC-

Good luck and I hope you do. I was impressed by the school that day. We will see soon since tomorrow is the technical first notification of acceptance day governed by AAMC.

Gah...your words are like acid on my ungloved hand...

GOS2,

Thanks for your kind regards and hope you get it as well. Yes, I was also very impressed by the school during the interview.

I now have my eyes pasted to this thread since I'm all the way out in California so I'm figuring there may be some mail delay. I checked my mailbox... nada.. well... except a rejection from BU.

No worries, part of the cosmic karma thing... I hope...

do you guys think we should call them and ask? i have not decided yet if that is a totally bad idea, but USUHS is my top choice and I would like to stop worrying about other interviews.

I called yesterday, (10/14) and Michelle said they were sending letters today or tomorrow (10/15-16). We should know early next week.

Sounddiver-

Weird b/c I called today and was told that it was 4-6 weeks post interview and that nothing was sent. That does, however, seem more like a form response. Thanks for the info and lets all sound off once status is known. When I interviewed on Sept 25, friendly USUHS students as well as applicants. I truly wish the best for us all. Keep fingers crossed.

Hey everyone!

All the best of luck! I'm sure you'll get in. Y'all chose navy, right??Just so you know and there's no stress at the mailbox - the acceptance letter (your conditional) is a thin one. Don't worry about the clinical letter. I didn't have one, never explained not having one, and it was never mentioned to me either way.

Hope to see y'all next year

Anyone else think NaShieka is about the greatest thing since sliced bread? DW, I know you're out there...

abw,

I selected Navy... Having grown up in San Diego, I really couldn't imagine myself in any other branch as strongly as I could with the Navy.

Yeah, USUHS has to be the nicest, most helpful, and humorously irreverent group I have had a chance to call (remember Michelle's joke?)

For those who are tuning in becuase you're thinking about applying to USUHS, trust us, we aren't blowing smoke becuase we think the ADCOM is watching us on these threads... 😱 They really are great.

Although my file is complete, I got an email from USUHS asking for the clinical rec. They said that if I didn't have it, my application would require an additional round of reviews. Thankfully, I can get a rec, asap. You should definitely provide a clinical rec if possible.

Has anyone who interviewed on the 25th of sept heard anything yet? I remember that when I interviewed on the 9th of oct, they were meeting to discuss y'alls files. if so, did they mail/emial/call?

Would a letter from a DO I shadowed work?

In fact, shadowing a doctor/nurse is one of the examples they cited in the email sent to me. So, yes, that should be good enough. Good luck!

Nothing yet, medboy. Hopefully this week. How did your vist on Oct 9 go? Were you impressed?

I got an letter from them on Saturday offering me a place in the AF... I am pretty excited about it. Is that letter they ask you to return binding???

SOBEIT,

I was there on the 25th as well. In which state do you live? I'm expecting my acceptance as well??????????? but it has to travel to the west to get to me.

Congrats Sobeit!!!!! You must be excited. I will hopefully get one as well tomorrow. I have all mail sent to my lab in grad school and there is usually a2 day delay. If I don't get in, so be it. I do not believe that by holding that offer you are committing. It's once you get the unconditional and sign the papers as commissioned.

Nice work.

GOS2,

Yes, I am very impressed by USUHS. I have no prior military experience and despite this, I was pretty comfortable in the military environment at USUHS. Good luck.

No, it's not BINDING unless you do their BOOTCAMP in the summer before matriculation. Congratulations by the way:clap:

I'm in!!!

I got my conditional acceptance (Airforce) today in the mail and I couldn't be happier!

for those with acceptances...when did you interview? sept 25?

Great news Sounddiver!!!

I called USUHS today and was told that the committee reviews different applications at different times and everyone who interviewed on Sept 25 will not be considered at the same time. I was told that I should hear something in a week or two.

GOS2, thanks for telling us about the variability as far as responses are concerned. I actually worked from home to wait for the mailman (who was more than 2 hours late😡 ) to see if my letter came today.

I would otherwise be going NUTS!!!

Congrats sounddiver!! Great to hear you got in!

I just called the Admissions office see if my letter did get sent and I was notified that "no decision had been made" on my file.

It was hard to hear after hearing that other had acceptances in their hot little hands...

I just got my acceptance! NAVY. interviewed oct. 2

Hi I'm here to beat a dead horse. In case anyone didn't believe that this is a requirement I am here to confirm that it is.
Hope some of you can profit from my experience. I have been working in a medical reference laboratory for the last 3 1/2 years. I test for a particular kind of cancer (multiple myeloma) of the b-cells and I screen for hemoglobinopathies. I thought that this would count as clinical experience, since hospitals and doctors use these results to determine how they will continue the treatment of patients. I had my medical director write me a letter, which was a great LOR by the way, and stopped worrying about it. I recently heard back from USUHS, they consider this work to be research not clinical experience.
So anyway make sure the letter is from shadowing, or hospital volunteer work, etc. They want patient contact and they want specifics in the letter. Good luck to all, I know I am going to chase down another LOR asap.

as long as i pass the physical this week i will be there in the fall. USUHS is my top choice.

MikeS,

Congrats. That's a pretty quick turnaround since you interviewed on the 2nd of october. So, at this pace, I'm guessing for people like me who interviewed on the 9th should hopefully hear something next week!?! did they snail or call you?

snail mail for the acceptance letter. do you guys know how long it takes after the physicals to make things "unconditional"??

Congrats MikeS and others who got conditional acceptances! I got my letter yesterday too. Air Force!! Woohoo! It came so much faster than I had expected. My physical is set for next month, so I won't hear about unconditionals any time soon, I don't think. But anyway, best of luck for everyone else waiting to hear from them!🙂

No Army letters out yet? I have been waiting. Sept 25 interview. I wonder if it is by division.

It can take a while, especially if you need waivers. But just be persistent and proactive! You are in the first group of acceptees, so they really want you and want to make sure your clearance comes as smoothly as possible. Everyone I encountered in admissions and student affairs is so patient!

One note: if you have trouble with scheduling or completing your physical exams, each base medical center has a patient advocate that can make sure your case is receiving the attention it should.

I'm gonna be there with you guys next fall... AF all the way, baby.

Alli:clap:

i know its early....but as far as housing, do you think if we wait until july after officer indoc. school (to find possible roommates) we'll have time to get a place, etc?
