Anyone dying to hear from Einstein next week?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I am dying for an interview there but my chances seem to be slimming down by the hour.

they told me to go away and keep waiting

They gave me a very nice... "it's not you, it's me..." but to be fair, I would have done the best if I'd gotten good news so maybe this is best for both of us 🙂

I'm joining the ranks of the "Thanks...but no thanks" ...O well such is life...rejections hurts, but perhaps not as much as the debt I would have racked up going to AECOM (trying to bitterly stay positive 😀)

DAMN IT!

This was my number one choice and I got waitlisted!!

I'm not gonna give up though, supposedly ppl see frequent, up-to-the-last-minute movement there.

For everyones information, my interview was in late december (20th I think), and my friend, who interviewed 2 days before that, has yet to have recieved a decision.

I interviewed in Oct and they told me a decision hadnt been made yet. Wonder if that means anything given that some decisions for Dec have already been given out.

i'm sorry to hear about the waitlist/rejection guys and congrats to those accepted.

albert einstein is expensive though...avg 135,000 dollars debt....

AECOM just sent me an email acceptance! They said that a letter will vbe arriving via snail mail shortly!

wow......i had JUST looked at this thread for the first time a minute ago. didnt know acceptances were today......and then all of a sudden i got the email!!

wooohoo.....yeshiva acceptance!

I hate being overseas when all this is happening. I don't know if I'm getting an e-mail, and I can't call first thing in the morning, cause it'll be in the middle of the night there. Bleh...

hey, i interviewed at einstein in early nov. i haven't received an email about anything, so i'm afraid that means i'm waitlisted. and i can't call now cuz its past 5 on the east coast.

my question is, did anyone who said they got accepted over the phone NOT receive an acceptance email? if so, then i still have hope!

bump

does anybody have any answers? i am really freaking out right now 🙁

as mentioned it seems like some people who interviewed in october still didn't get decisions made either so i wouldn't worry....call t/m

Yeah, I think that they would have told you if there were ANY decision made. For instance, I was rejected and they were kind enough to tell me, instead of the lame "we sent you a letter" or telling me a decision wasn't made. Therefore, I don't think you have to worry- if they have bad news for you, they'll tell you. Despite my extreme sadness about the outcome, I am actually very grateful that they have the courage to tell you either way.

So much better than what Northwestern does and just give a cryptic "there is a letter coming in the mail, I don't know what it is", when they sure do know.

does anyone know roughly the percent of the student body that describes themselves as jewish?

When I was there, the tour guides said they always try to figure it out but they're not sure. They guessed 50%.

does this mean that if i havent gotten an email yet then im definitely not accepted? i interview on 10/15. i havent called them, but got no email. is there any chance im still accepted?

I have heard from some inside sources that due to a large amount of applicants the letters are going out in two batches. one is now one in two weeks time. If you were not accepted yet, don't fret too much, rejections and waitlist letters were sent out today along with acceptances, so clearly they aren't just waiting to reject you. You may not be in the first batch. Good luck to all, (and to me, hoping for an acceptance)

WHAT... that is way too much. i heard there were quite a few, but definitely NOT 50% (this was also coming from a student host and a tour guide)

call them tomorrow is seems like they are telling ppl their decision over the phone as well...good luck!

I wouldn't doubt that it's 50%...it is affiliated with a Jewish university. Plus when I interviewed there, my interviewer told me that they do try to take more Jews than other schools...and why shouldn't they? This school was founded for Jews who would not get accepted to other schools just because they're Jewish.

calling people of the jewish faith, "jews," is not pc

Well, there were a lot of guys in the first year class wearing skull caps, and they tend to be the more orthodox of the population, so there's likely many more than just that, plus the women, who you can't really tell by just looking, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was at 50%.

Ok, I just got off the phone with Einstein. They said that the December interviewees have not been reviewed yet, and it would still be a few weeks until we hear anything. So thats good news for all of us who didn't hear anything yesterday.

hey all, i got accepted and i interviewed late-ish (11/9). i'm withdrawing tho so hopefully one of you will get off the waitlist soon!

So I got an email about some kind of financial aid website, and it said "congratulations" at the end. I called and they said I was accepted, but I haven't received any email accepting me. Anyone have similar situation?

Was it titled "WEB PAGE CORRECTION?" I received that right after getting the acceptance email... you should call and have them resend the acceptance email because it has really useful links.

Apparently they have reviewed some December interviewees, because they managed to waitlist me🙁

or at least thats what I was told over the phone.....

I also heard that the percent of med students who are Jews is around 50% from a tour guide. Btw, anyone know what the waitlist movement at Einstein has been in the past? I met quite a few Einstein students on my interview day who said that they were initially waitlisted.

From the AECOM website:

"After sending an initial round of acceptances on January 15th, acceptances are offered on a rolling admission basis.

Approximately 400 applicants will be placed on the wait-list from January through the summer months. Beginning in May, the wait-list is re-evaluated and halved. By July, about 50 applicants remain active on the wait-list and by the day of Orientation, approximately 20 remain active. The wait-list is not ranked."

What do they mean "halved" ? Like they let half of those people in, or they reject half of them lol? Either way it doesn't sound promising.

My guess is they reject half of the waitlist.

I heard from someone on the admissions committee (I can't for the life of me remember his position... maybe chair or a dean) that many people are pulled from the waitlist, because about half of the first batch of acceptances refuse the offer due to either the location or the financial aid (most of the time).

hmmm...yeah, it does seem like they reject half of those 400, but then the rest of it is confusing. How does the number go down from 200 to 50 in July? Do people just withdraw from the waitlist or some get accepted? Probably a little of both, but it's hard to tell how many of those on the waitlist actually get in.

Hey MarySue,

I got flushed by einstein, too. and my interviewer told me that he'd strongly recommend my candidacy to the committe. . . . 👎. So I don't know what the hell is their problem, not that I actually wanted to go there, but it still hurts like a. . . I thought I did everything by the book.

Anyone has any ideas, I didn't send a thank you note or a letter of interest or anything like that, maybe that did it

Just out of curiosity, for the people that got accepted did you guys all write thank you notes and/or letters of interests?

Also, does anyone know if Einstein likes letters of interest? And if so, when should they be sent? Post interview/pre-decision or post interview/post decision?

Thanks!

i didn't send anything. however, i do think it was one of my better interviews.

I sent a very nice thank you note to my interviewer but I was still rejected. I don't think I did too well on my interview though. It was my first and I was really nervous. I was crushed by the rejection but I think I'm over it now.

Those waitlisted shouldn't dispare, I might withdraw (depending on aid).

i sent nothing, but my interview was awesome. my interviewer and i couldn't have had a better conversation.

I sent a thank you note to my interviewer. That's it. I'm so excited about this acceptance! Would definitely consider going to AECOM...unless I get into Cornell 😀

boooooooooooooooooooooo

Are you booing the lack of a 2nd look weekend? If so, I agree. I might make my own, though. There's a lot of stuff I want to know more about and flights from NOLA to NYC are like $220 nonstop on JetBlue. 😀

i didn't send a thank you note or anything like that... i was meaning to but i just didn't get around to it... i am not sure how the thank you letter works..i only sent two sets out...morehouse (ACCEPTED) and wake forest (WAITLISTED)... i think they have their answers on your decision either way...
