Hi all,
I am in the midst of putting my packet together for the HPSP. I will be starting at VMCVM August 19th, and I am really really really hoping I am successful in getting this scholarship. I figured we could use a thread to ask questions/updates. I currently still need to schedule MEPS, my online app is complete, and my CV/SoM is done. Not sure how competitive I am but I have a bachelors and a masters (Graduated summa cum laude with my masters), 10+ years of veterinary experience as a technician, letters are being written by a veterinarian (civilian), a former USAF Flight Nurse (honorable discharge at Major), Former USAF officer, and *hopefully* another civilian vet and a former professor of mine. I come from a military family, my grandfather served in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam, my dad was 375th Ranger, mom was a Navy brat who sadly was in a car accident that prevented her from enlisting.

Good luck to all! Any HPSP recipients please feel free to comment on any advice! I'm sure we would all appreciate it.

I'm also applying for HPSP. Starting at Tufts in early Sept and have been talking with a recruiter for a while. What do you mean by online app? Is that the initial stuff like essay, letters of rec, personal documents etc.?

Yes. I did all of that via a link that my recruiter sent me. And then submitted my transcripts and social security card etc via a DoD Dropbox link she sent me. It’s been a very easy process so far because my recruiter is fabulous. Good luck! Hopefully we are both recipients 💚

Any idea on what the resume/CV is like? My recruiter mentioned it a while ago but hasn’t followed up (i.e. Detailed work history with supervisor contact info). I know it’s very specific to the application. I asked her about it on Friday so I’m hoping I get a response next week. I’m getting anxious about the deadline.

This is the example my recruiter gave me. I'm sure variations in format are acceptable, and I would go with what your recruiter recommends, but this is the kind of information you'll probably want to compile in preparation.

Anyone know when the results will be? I heard the board met this week but was only told we’d know in a few weeks

I got put on the OML which I am not sure what that means but good luck to you!

Very fortunate to have been awarded it 🙂

I heard OML is their version of a waitlist that’s unranked so they go in and review everyone if someone declines. There are also people who got accepted pending waiver approval. It’s a small pool, so I’m not sure how likely it is to get off OML but wishing the best!

Hi I’m applying for hpsp next fall and I was hoping to see stats of those who were awarded the scholarship or got a place on the OML if anyone feels comfortable sharing them!

I got a place on the OML and was just activated off of it. I'm attending UPenn and had a 3.7 in undergrad. Got four LOR from 3 vets I've worked with and 1 from my fire chief. I am a volunteer firefighter and wrote about that in my letter during my application. If you have any questions about it feel free to reach out.

Hi everyone! I just got accepted into vet school for class of 2029, I am writing on this forum since I didn't see one yet for HPSP applicants for my class. I am in the middle of applying for the scholarship currently. I have met with my recruiter and finished the online application, going to be completing my physicals soon, and in the works of obtaining my LORs and finishing my CV. I haven't heard anything about having to write a personal statement for the scholarship, so I am asking to see if anyone who has applied/is applying knows if I have to write one?
