Back to Basic Strategy WW Sign up and GAME THREAD

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
By content, do you mean to include text pertaining to the thread? Or does content only mean including a pic, gif, meme... aka something extra?

I just have a phone and wanted to clarify if I was screwed or not because it sucks to link things on mobile. It can be done, but it sucks.
Content means game specific strategy - not just posting to post. Gifs/memes, etc are not content they are "fluff".

Thank you. I've just seen the same terminology applied strictly to media (media content that was shortened to content) and saying it was better for certain people who have a history of complaining about needing to read the thread... I just wasn't sure which way you meant. My assumption based on your history was "quality of content."

The initial assumption for media content makes 0 sense in the context of the game.

My vote would have been for 36 hours - I doubt I can consistently post 10 relevant posts every 24 hours, esp going into the weekend (my work week). So I am happy with 36.

One of the first things that is nice to know is # wolves. If anyone has a way.....

Barring that, I suspect that given 28 players there are probably 5 + an impending convert or 4 + 2. Purely based on mathing.

Anyone else feel like this is going to be like an online class where everyone waits til the last minute to do their discussion questions?

Some of us will try to get sleep and then the SDN notifications make the phone buzz for an hour starting at midnight.

By delaying until the last minute it discourages useful back and forth. Personally, I'll vote to lynch people that I perceive as intentionally holding back like that. A villager has little to lose by chatting. A wolf has to be more cautious and gauge the flow and wind.

Please no :uhno:. This strategy will get people lynched without being able to defend themselves. I, for one, don't want to accidentally lynch, say, the village seer.

normally this kind of post would fill my heart with joy. But it's from LIS, so.......

RNG lynch guis.

If this is based off of the MafiaUniverse game, then there are a lot of vanilla roles. Per Dyachei's claim, roles won't be a great source of info, so I'm guessing most people will need to defend based on behavior. I don't think bandwagons will be much use this early in the day cycle- usually, we use them to force a role claim, which won't be much use here.

Bandwagons will definitely be more useful once people post enough for us to analyze behavior, though. Chat now, pile on a little later in the cycle when people have chat histories we can analyze and accused can use to defend themselves?

This made me giggle, but I'm hoping the way this game is set up will prevent this from happening. Like a WW bootcamp if you will 😀

Since I've seen people talk about keeping spreadsheets, and I looooove spreadsheets, what kinds of things do you guys keep track of in them?

I also am going to start lynching people who RNG it. Not today, because I get it, but after that .... Either man up and go with a hunch and be willing to be wrong, or get lynched. RNG'ing through a game with "gee, I don't have info" is weak.

The grump is strong today.

In general people tend to update the roster with info about people's roles, abilities, behavior, etc. You can tailor it however it is useful to you! I'm not sure how useful that will be in this game since it seems like not many players will have abilities or even roles, but you really can use it to keep track of whatever you want!

In a game like this, I think it would be somewhat useful to watch voting patterns, timing, and just general behavior. We are going to have to get information from what people post on the thread, and make decisions from it.

Depends on the game. Normally, I include names, claimed roles, and try to plan out what happened each night. This time, I'm mainly trying to track people's feelings about others (lynch votes and others).

Perfect, that sounds like what I was thinking! I think I'll try and keep track by roster and day/night and just keep notes on behavior and anything else that gets mentioned.

I'd say a spreadsheet might be more useful in this game than you think. With 28 players, that means a minimum of 280 posts (6 pages) for Day 1 alone. That's a lot of info to keep track of.

That's kinda what I was thinking. I mostly just want an easy way to keep track of feels, keep notes, and track any other important information. It'll force me to read all the posts a little more carefully I think (especially with how many there could be!), and better keep track of players since I'm still new at this.

There was almost 2 pages that I had to catch up on just from today thus far. I would have woken up earlier had i realized it was starting early today.

Was the 1am cycle end time just as result of when the voting ended and game began, or is it to discourage late bandwagoning? It doesn't really bother me (with my work schedule this might actually be beneficial to me) , but I feel sorry for you east coasters.

Dy did seem to suggest roles would be at a minimum, if at all (other than wolf versus villager). While I too would love a wolf count or word from a seer, this may be a game to question not just whether any info given is valid, but also whether the role it claims to come from even exists.

LIS, are your numbers based on past Dy games or the recent commentary on the last game? (I'm going to use the excuse of mobile device to not run around the interwebs searching without just asking first)

I guess going off of what zen was talking about, roles and who had what item will mean very little. I think my spreadsheet is gonna be pretty straightforward. The roles and who said what and what I think about it.

lynch AlphaBeta<3

Because I've never played with this person and know nothing about them.

And, yeah, definitely sounds like Dy is going to keep roles/abilities to a minimum this game, so even with 28 players, a spreadsheet shouldn't be too difficult to keep. I generally just input the roster of players and various notes/thoughts on behaviors until I am actually able to really confirm or take a guess at their roles.

While I think you should be questioning the validity of any role in a WW game (classic wolf cover is giving a fake role name), I don't know if this game is as bare bones as everyone is making it sound. I'm not sure if Dy would even completely nix seers from the game; rather, I think if they were present she would limit their powers so they had to be strategic about the ability use in order to garner any useful information (for example, seers that get only a role name or that may get easily clouded results rather than very reliable affiliation seers). There are also other roles that can give limited but potentially useful information - for example: blockers, protectors, trackers, etc.

I don't think this game is so much "vanillagers vs wolves" (I'm paraphrasing general thoughts expressed on thread here) as it is a version of classic WW, where thought, strategy, and paying attention to player actions and reactions is ultimately more important to the game than getting lucky with an item or ability.

Also, lynch RM. Idk, I'm just getting weird and probably unsubstantiated feels on him.

Probably a little of both plus Dy's experience in the Mafia championships. This whole game is pretty much a reaction to how games have been played recently. In initial set up it appears to be similar to the one mentioned on the Future WW games page.

Mainly I was wondering whether that number should be pared down even smaller as that was the impression I got from the comments in PBC's game. But I guess 1/5 is that 5+/- a convert.
