Boston University Waitlistees

Last week I called and they said I was on the waitlist and the letter was in the mail.

I wrote a long update letter enthusiastically accepting my spot on the waitlist. I sent it express mail.

I called today to check the status of my application and she said no decision has been made yet. I said "I'm still on the waitlist, right?" since I hadn't received the letter yet, and she said I'm not, and no decision has been made! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" /> How could they take almost 7 months to decide that?? I interviewed in early December!

Ugh! Hopefully my update/letter of interest will get me onto the waitlist!

This means they propbably haven't rejected those 850 people post-interview that won't make it onto the list! This is ridiculous!

She also told me they are still establishing the waitlist. Whatever.

BU's admissions process is a horrible joke. . .

They obviously take COMPLETE advantage of us merely because they can -- since 10,000+ apply there. . . <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="frown.gif" />

What does it take to get an acceptance/interview at BU. They seem to have refused to interview a number of qualified candidates, I like to think I am one of the qualified ones, and their average mcat scores and GPA's are not all that impressive. Do they draw only from certain schools or certain states?

Hey Foxy,
I'm sorry BU did that to you..it really sucks. I called about about a month ago and the lady told me they don't have my file. I gave her both my SSN and my AAMC ID number and she couldn't find anything on me. It was very frustrating. Then I call the next day and they tell me no decision. And about two weeks after that I got the waitlist letter. I think they need to work on the organization in the admin office, its really horrible what they put us through. I called again a week or so ago and I found out the waitlist isn't ranked and that they won't start pulling people off the waitlist for another 4-5 weeks ( or once they get the majority of decisions back from the accepted students). So we still have a bit of waiting to do. Good luck to all of you who are still waiting to hear! See ya :wink:

Thanks for the info rs3....unfortunately, I don't have 4-5 weeks to wait because the only school I'm accepted at starts in the end of July <img border="0" alt="[Pity]" title="" src="graemlins/pity.gif" />

In response to one of the above posters, it may help to get an interview if you are from the MA area or went to school nearby, since they seem to perfer people who are more likely to matriculate.

Yeah, I'm on the waitlist. They asked me to send in a letter stating my intention to be on their wiatlist. I guess if there is a new admissions director it might take a little longer but I was just wondering if people have heard since the new director came in.
