So I have one year to go to complete my masters of public health in global health and population at Harvard and still have no idea what I am going to do after this. I am interested in both infectious diseases and chronic diseases in the US and abroad.

I don't have much experience in public health apart from my internship experience that I just recently completed. What are my chances at this point? What are some companies/ organisations that I could be looking to apply to given that I have very little experience?

Any advice please?

Harvard doesn't have a career center.. or any connections?

Wow! Someone else besides me who's also blindly piling on degrees with no clue about future plans. We should start a support group 🙁. I don't know what to tell you, but I'm in the same situation.

Also, I didn't know that Harvard takes on students who have little prior PH experience. Interesting.

Apply to any Federal agency jobs at CDC, HHS, NIH, OSHA etc.. I think with a Harvard diploma you will find something surely in the PH field. You can also apply to any 2 yr fellowships with CDC or state DOH. Just speak with your program adviser, in addition to that, usually internships help land a job in the field. But not sure where or what type of internship you did. I know people who did internships with CDC, and are now fellows there or working in a company that contracts work for CDC. A few friends of mines are hoping to get a permanent federal position after their 1-2 yr fellowship training program.

I graduated Dec 2008 with my MPH (Epi) and well with the bad economy & not the best internship in the PH field, I am still searching for a permanent job with benefits. At this point I had to take a job without benefits just to gain more PH research experience. I also decided to opt out of the 1-2 yr fellowship because I plan to get into Dental School in the near future. 😀
