Just wondering if there are any prevets fromt he great white north on here - and any others heading off to vet school this fall. I got into WCVM last week, and am really looking forward to it. Any advice on accomadation in Saskatoon?

Hello
First of All congrat. on your acceptance ,I am heading to PEI too in Aigust,

Well I do now know much about sask. but I think may be if you try to check the residence there within the university or may be tr their offcampus residence I am sure they have some, i think the best thing would be for at least try the reisdence for the first sem. then you go and find a place with people from your class. I will be doing that for now then I will try to get a place close by.

If you need any thing else I could help you with let me know
best of luck

Congrats! I can't wait for that to be me a\in a few years. I'm a second year student studying Zoology at UofT and plan on going to OVC. I was just wondering if you have any advice on really important things to do in my second year-i'm planning to apply in my fourth year-and anything that the adcoms really look for in an application other than the obvious marks, test scores, experience etc. (unless those are the only real biggies). Thanks and good luck!

hi there,

well I am from toronto originally but I am now finishing my Masters degree here in Physiology in Manitoba.

I think the factors you mentioned are a amjor thing when you apply to vet school beside the diverse experience with different animsl , I think youre back ground in zoology is very interesting one for vet schools. just make sure you have alot of diverse animals work, if possible voulnteer with different clinics and even wild life .

OVC is very competitive and you need good marks and good experience to get into.

good luck to you and wish you the best .

let me know if you need any more help.

Thanks! That was pretty helpful. I have lots of experience with animals (small, large), trying to find a place where I can get some experience with wildlife in a more clinical setting than field courses at university, and then by the time i am done by bachelors i'll have lots of research as well. I kinda knew that zoology would be a bit different than the usual Animal Science route (or that is what most do in my area) and I'm doing a specialist in comparative animal physiology. Would you happen to know if OVC accepts the GRE from in-province residents instead of the MCAT? on the site it says that they accept that from non-residents. I was wondering because I am planning on applying to US schools where they all pretty much only accept GRE and next year I'll be doing the testing route and I really didn't want to do both. Thanks again for the reply.

hi redstripedzebra again,

well I am glad that my answer help, firts of all research is a great idea because my masters degree helped me alot in getting in school in PEI, for the GRE thing I do not really know , but I know the bets thing to do in these cases is to pick upithe phone and phone them direct. always follow this theory when it comes to getting infomrations, it is the best way to get informations.

Your research is in comparative physiology is a very good idea and I think it will help you there too.also for your wildlife experience may be if you try Toronto zoo they might let you do some work there.

good luck and do not histitate to ask.

Regards
