I wrote on my app under "Planned/In Progress Academic Courses" that I'm going to take 18 credits of upper-division science classes this fall semester but my plans changed. I cancelled those classes and will now be working full-time for the next year until I (hopefully) start D school.

I figure why waste the money if most schools are going to give the decision early in December before the semester ends making the academic update not that meaningful. And I could always take classes in winter and spring semester to inc GPA if I don't get in anywhere and can apply again next cycle.

What should I do in this situation and when? Is it best to email AADSAS directly about it or each individual school? And should I do it right away or can this wait until December 2nd?

The problem with this is that schools might evaluate your application considering the classes that you planned. Also, remember that not all the acceptances are given out on December. Schools might want to get the grades from those classes during the Academic Update to make a decision on your file after December. Just be careful and when I doubt, email schools directly.

if you have good enough stats and you can take the time off before D school, I would just send an email to every school, but I might inquire to AADSAS first. As long as none of the classes are required and you have shown that you can be a successful student I don't see why your choice would reflect too poorly on you. Good Luck!

You're going from 18hrs of hard sciences to leaving school? I think we need more information about your application, but that this move is neutral at best and likely negative. You have to contact schools right away. I think you will get admission offers rescinded if your academic update has 18 hours planned and consists of nothing.

What's your GPA boss.

I already graduated last year and taken many upper div science classes already (such as biochem I and II and more). Overall is 3.24, science is 3.05, DAT is 24aa/25ts/24pa.

Ok so I gather I should email this info about me cancelling classes to all schools right away in order to minimize any negative consequences, right?
