Chances and School List Help? 514/3.83

[Master Thinker]

Hey guys! I was wondering if someone can help check my school list? I currently have ~40 schools and I wouldn't mind applying to that many because I will pre-write essays and I have FAP. I want to get in in the first cycle, which is why I am applying to so many (also because of my MCAT lol).

My cGPA is 3.85, sGPA is 3.82 and I go to a top 15 non-Ivy. My MCAT is 514.

My EC's are pretty good...

Note: the list below is random and not based on actual preference. Looking at all MD schools, but fine with adding on DOs as well.

You have a good list and should receive several interviews. You could remove Virginia Tech since they have an instate and regional preference. You could remove reaches such as Northwestern and Pittsburgh.

Thanks! Do you think there are more schools on that list I could trim off? Also, isn't VTC a private; thus no in-state bias?

Many private med schools still have an IS bias. Difference being public ones are required to.

Can also remove Brown (they tend to favor their own undergrads), Geisinger (regional preference), Rush (you have impressive volunteering, but still fall short of what their average applicant has).

I’ll let the experts comment. Your stats are fine and you for sure don’t need that many schools
