Hi,

I called Charles Drew to find out what their Stats are because it isn't anywhere on the web site. They said that the average G.P.A. is 3.5 and that the MCAT is 9 in every category. I asked what the average science GPA was, but she said she didn't know and to call back next week. Does anyone know?

Drew is my top choice for medical school

Slightly lower than UCLA's, but Drew probably doesn't rely on #'s as much as the other UC's b/c of its mission. Your personal statement, commitment, and EC's are equally important.

What exactly is Drew? How is it different from Keck? I'm not up on my Cali schools.

Drew is basically UCLA.

For a Drew/UCLA student, you do the first 2 years at UCLA's Geffen S of M, then your rotations at King/Drew Hospital instead of UCLA's hospital.

Then you get your MD from UCLA. So, basically you're a UCLA student, that does their rotations at a different hospital.

Keck is USC's medical school.

And UCLA students do everything at UCLA? Does UCLA's school have another name (i.e., for USC it's Keck, or U of Chicago it's Pritzker)?

Yeah, UCLA is David Geffen School of Medicine, and they do everything at UCLA.

for Drew, you interview at Drew in the city of willowbrook (zip code 90059) ~19.3 miles from westwood (zip code 90095). hmmm never noticed before how the last two digits of the zip are reversed...(just the math major in me)
