Does anyone know how OSU, UPenn, VMRCVM, and UFl feel about listing pet ownership under animal experience? Especially sick pets?
 
I feel like I am having the biggest brain fart in the world. I just can't seem to write these darn essays and everything I think of sounds really bad or seems really cheesy. Grrr...I really hope this year works out because I am going to just start copying and pasting things from previous years if it doesn't.

If the OSU you're talking about is Ohio State then no, don't list simple pet ownership under animal experience. If you actually DID something with them, i.e. 4-H, specialized training, showing, breeding, etc. then yes, include it. But don't just include feeding/walking/litter box scooping.

For example, I included my 10 years of horse ownership because during those years I was training, showing, and doing 4-H. But I didn't include ownership of my dogs, cats, or pocket pets.

It's hard to imagine myself struggling to finish supplementals and lamenting over my last eLOR a year ago... and now I'm trying my best not to drip snot on my notes over the autonomic nervous system. Yay for colds. I have at least 25lbs in books strewn about on my desk and I'm drinking cold coffee because I'm too lazy to actually get up and get a fresh cup. But, uh... I wouldn't trade places with a single one of yeh.

Thanks for your reply!

I just received an e-mail from VMRCVM saying they do want that (probably the non-everyday pet stuff of course), though. The person handling their e-mails has been very easy to get in contact with by the way. I guess it depends on the school, but it makes it difficult when they share the same service. Other than that, I do like just having one application. It's enough work as it is.

That just about sums up how I'm feeling. One of the few times in my life that I will say that the grass really IS greener on my side. The agonizing over doing this and that on the applications, and then the dreaded wait is probably the worst part of it all.

Well after applying to 14 schools I finally submitted my vmcas, all the supplementals, and have confirmed that all the schools got my transcripts from four of the schools I have attended and got my GRE scores.

I assumed that I would have to reorder several transcripts and GRE's because they got lost in the mail, and I only had to order one gre report.

I still have to do Tufts and that will be done later in the week but I have most of it done and it shoudlnt take long to submit it.

I am actually not really relieved, it was not a big deal for me to finally submit the vmcas. I think the fact I started my personal statement and all the supplemental essays back in april really made it easy for me to finish without being rushed. I would have submitted long ago but I started a new experience recently and intentionally did not submit my application until I could update my application

As for the letters, I got all of them in a few weeks ago. For evaluators I did not see regularly and just talked to them over email, I told them the deadline was over the summer to avoid them procrastinating until the end. For those that I saw regularly I just gave them a hard time about it 🙂

It feels so good to be done with all the apps/essays already- I submitted everything two weeks ago! I knew I had a Biochem test on October 4 and that I couldn't procrastinate on my essays AND study for biochem in the same weekend. On the other hand, now I'm second-guessing everything I submitted! Oy.

Aaaand I should probably go back to studying for Biochem now and not reading SDN. Lol.

I am working on my last supplemental essay too... when I mean "last" I mean last one due by tomorrow. Then I got to hunker down and work on Mizzous 3 essays.

We can have a head banging against desk party because I am in the same boat as you. I still have to fix up my PS some too; just change a few things from the one I wrote last year. Grr... I just can't bring myself to do it.

I'm really trying to find ways to steal pieces from other school's supplementals to finish Mizzou's. I'm so over writing essays. Luckily, the rough draft of my Tuft's essays have been done for like 3 weeks but I think they're horrible so I might have to do a lot of reworking on them.

I plan on submitting today, eating a hungry man, and watching a netflix movie (or the Jets-Ravens game) 😀.
 
VMCAS = Submitted! I gave up and finally just posted the PS I had. I cannot sit here and nitpick it anymore. Thankfully, I had a coworker read the last draft for me this afternoon and she offered me some GREAT advice. Then, after my final rounds, I locked myself here in my office and swore I wasn't leaving until the damn thing was finished. Let's hope it works...

And now, the horror of Ohio State awaits. Not that I have that much left to do with it, but I know that I'm going to nit pick it to death. However, I should go home and eat something so I can think straight. Oh how I wish I didn't have to get up to get at the ass crack of dawn for a doctor's appointment.

Edit: I can't go home!!! I need to take public trans and nothing comes for another hour. I missed the train by 4 minutes and the bus by 10. Ohio here I come. Wahhhh.....

One of my PS readers is overly optimistic. Got an e-mail saying my PS is incredible and ready for submission. 10 min later I get a copy covered in red highlight/comments from my pre-med friend.
 
Why do I let other people edit my PS? Now all I have is an ugly Frankenstein Monster 😡. I am annoyed that although they are fine tearing my work apart, They are not helping me put it back together. All my mom is doing is talking my ear off about how I had "a special connection" to animals since I was a baby. Yeah mom, not happening in the PS, get over it. I had to run away to Starbucks to keep from pulling my hair out. FML 🙁.

I wish that was something you could talk about. It's definitely a skill since you screw yourself over if you're not good at it.

And given how much all the vet LOR writers seem to have mastered the art of procrastination, you'd think that it is an essential skill for a veterinarian.
 
urghhhh only ONE eLOR writer has NOT submitted! i'm just nervous about submitting it before she does. anyone know if I can submit VMCAS before all my eLORs are submitted, as long as the eLOR writers submit by 1pm tomorrow?
i just saw her at work yesterday, she said she would get it done, i emailed and texted her tonight...ARGH

As long as you have 3 listed, you can submit your application before all your eLORs are in. I think I had submitted my application when only 1 of my 4 eLORS had been submitted.

You can submit, before all your eLORs are in. But I am in the same boat as you. I still have 2 out and am so nervous about submitting before all are in.
 
well luckily i have more than 3 in right now...i have 5, but this one last one i'm waiting on is also one of the ones i listed for CSU for the ETS PPI, so she pretty much has to submit it...she did complete the ETS PPI though. ARGH
 
Nice to see fellow VMCAS stragglers on here 😀 I posted a question about the explanation statement on the explanation thread. If any of you all might have any knowledge about it, your input would definitely be appreciated! I'm about to pull my hair out... it's the last thing I have to do before I get to press the scary submit button!

Just pressed it!!!!!!!! EEEEEEEEEeeeeeepPPP! $450 later- I'm feeling quite relieved. Everything is done. Just Mizzou left. WoOOOOHOOOOO!!!!!!
 
Trying to think of a good way to start my PS that stands out. Hmmm.... I can't think of anything right now, but it will eventually come to me....:idea:
 
Okay, I am really freaking out right now! So I have 2 evaluators who still have not submitted. I just got off the phone with one of them and she said she already submitted my eLOR. Well, obviously not because its not registering in my account. Whats going on? Anyone else have these problems? I tried to call VMCAS but no one is in the office. I am so worried now that my other evaulators have submitted and the same thing has happened to their letters! :scared:

hold your horsey there, and take a deep breath. Can you maybe ask your evaluator to see if she's gotten a confirmation of some sort and/or try to log back in (I would think it'd say something along the lines of "you've already submitted. thank you"). Just to make sure she did submit.

If she did, don't worry about it for now. I'm pretty sure I'm not making this up, but in the past VMCAS/schools have been understanding about eLOR glitches (even if it's just that the eLOR writer was late). Just call them up first thing tomorrow morning and I'm sure they'll help you figure it out.

Okay, I will contact my evaluator again and see if they received a conformation email.I have already resent a request, so I don't know if that was right nor not. I will be sure to contact VMCAS tomorrow though. I am just really nervous right now though.

I'd definitely call VMCAS in the morning. For two of my letters, my references and I didn't get confirmation emails even though the letters went through. I did notice later on that I received messages in my VMCAS inbox saying their letters were submitted but it didn't include their names like it normally did, so the service can definitely be glitchy.
 
One more eLOR, but it my only letter from a vet! This is freaking me out. Last year I had to wait til 7 hours before the VMCAS deadline to submit. Looks like it will be the same this year... If she doesn't I'm out 1000$!

does anyone know how to indent paragraphs on the PS in VMCAS? i copied + pasted from word but it won't show it 🙁 and i don't want to add spaces...

Just read the instructions for that section. it says the formats like indents may not show in your text block but they DO appear when the schools get them.

Instead of indenting (which adds like 5 spaces), just skip one line (1 space). Like so:
