Class of 2018

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Hmm. Right.
But facility wise, LMU is nicer :/
How tough is it to live in temperatures such as Arizona? Especially during the summer?

TIA

From my point of view, Arizona heat is dry heat; doesn't feel as hot or sticky as it would be if it were humid. Just be sure to keep yourself hydrated and use sunscreen!

But you need to ask yourself - what does having nice facilities mean other than from a superficial standpoint? Of course all of the newer schools will have nice looking labs, but is that really a selling point?

I can tell you as an Arizona resident that honestly the heat isn't that bad. The 3 or 4 months of 115 degree heat is worth the 8 or so months of absolutely beautiful weather! We are in the middle of October and its in the mid 80s all week! It won't start heating up again until about May-ish.

Hmm. Interesting. That's certainly a relief. After hearing how it was almost 120F this summer, was a little scared.

Hmm. That's actually a good point. Thanks.
Anyone got any inputs just how useful recorded lectures are? Never had them before, but it sounds useful. However, AZCOM doesn't have it.

I was in Phoenix in June when it was 115+. The heat really wasn't that terrible. The midwest days of just 90 degrees with crazy humidity are worse than that. Granted, my flight was delayed 4 hours before take off because it was too hot to fly 🙄

Haha. So hot planes cannot take off xD

Alright. So temperature is not a problem. Phew.

Also updated everyone! I will begin removing people with MCATs listed as TBA. I can alway add them back later when they decide to give their full stats.

Great job 👍

Excellent job darklabel! I might volunteer to do that next cycle.

Already started to semi pack.

I order lots from Amazon--so I'm using the boxes they sent to start to pack some things, such as my books, video games, and minor items.

Pretty excited to start the new aspect of my life.

When are you guys planning on moving?
I'm not in school so I plan on moving as soon as my husband gets a job there. :xf: for spring

Thanks, touch! 🙂 What school do you plan on matriculating at?

As for moving, I think it'll depend on how far away I end up going (Chicago area is home right now), and what month school starts. Have a nice research lab tech job right now so probably won't move too far in advance.

Edit: and congrats maybemed2013!!! That's awesome! 😀

I'm going to DMU 😍

I wish I can move sooner! But since I'm international I believe I can only be there 30 days before class @ the earliest...

I would like to move and get the hell out of here as soon as possible. However, I really do need to stay at my job for at least 5 more months because I need the money and the benefits.

Being an adult sucks, obviously.

No Sir,

Got one acceptance and waiting to hear back from another. It will either be Touro NV or Western-Lebanon. Perhaps even other schools if I get some late interviews! Hbu?

Just had one interview so far at KCUMB, which is an amazing program and I would love to go there. Still waiting to hear about iis from my state school and DMU. Kinda put all my eggs in a few baskets, so I hope I don't end up SOL haha. FWIW one of the docs I worked with (an MD) couldn't say enough good things about Touro NV since his son went there and loved his experience.

DMU and KCUMB--two of the best. Blast their Biochemistry Requirement!

but yeah, Touro-NV was great. The killer part is the location though. Fantastic places nearby. Literally the selling point IMO.

Best of luck OGrady--you got this.

Maybe I had a bad interview day, but I left the school with a bad impression. The school itself was fine enough, I loved Henderson, but my interviewers made me not want to attend the school.

This is just my experience and frankly, I was disappointed, because I hear good things about TUNCOM all the time on this board.

You could do online medical biochem at UNE next semester, which is what I'm doing. My sister lived in Henderson for a while and I totally loved it there, so I agree it's an awesome location.

Thanks bro, I hope you get where you want to go. Are you still waiting to hear from TCOM? I would have loved to go there too, I just too slow getting my TMDSAS in so I kinda shot myself in the foot.

I'm sure it's not for everyone, but yeah maybe just a bad day. Are you still waiting to hear from FL MD schools?

I never sent in my secondaries. DO interview season left such a bad taste in my mouth, I'm over it. Not sure if I will submit or not, but I understand everyday that goes by decreases my chance to hear anything tremendously.

I hope everything works out for you man, best of luck!

Yah--still waiting on TCOM. My DO physician should be calling on my behalf later this week so we'll see if that helps.

II to ATSU-KCOM.

Also I just wanted to add that I, am done interviewing at osteopathic schools so I am just posting IIs.
SN: I only interviewed at ACOM and NSU.

This. I'm ready to get started now. The thought of putting up with this job for another 7-8 months is really tiring. Oh well, at least it pays the bills. 😛
