Anyone else interview at USC for IM? I'm not quite sure what to make of the probation/cards fellowship issues, as the program in general seems solid and the residents are happy but being on probation for "resident wellness/safety" does seem concerning, even if they're off probation now. I wonder if they will suffer a bit in the match this year?
Even if USC halved the residents' salary, charged them $1000/month for parking, and spat in their lunch every day, their application numbers probably wouldn't change

So at this point, I feel like I'm overthinking everything. Today when the RL opened log in to my eras to double-check that my NRMP number was correct in the personal information section of ERAS. It was fine and I did not make any change to it. However, I did click save info just to be sure and I got the "information has been saved and sent to programs" message. Now I'm just here sitting thinking that I don't want programs to get annoying notifications from my ERAS, especially when no change was made. Do they get notified always or I should not be worried about this? Can this affect my ranking?

No. Stop worrying, what's done is done. Start perfecting that ROL.

I feel like you’re my spirit animal. I would totally have done the same things and worried about the same things. And I probably will next year when it’s my time.

Fair point haha. I'm just curious more so if they'll suffer in the match a bit this year itself, with applicants ranking it lower than they otherwise normally would due to what happened

The students that interviewed there that also interviewed at UCSF or UCLA maybe. Doubt they’ll have trouble filling.

Has anyone else not even touched the rank list yet? I know my #1 and last pick but I've literally got 5 programs "tied" for #2 😳

Last interview completed. It’s crazy how fast the last few months have gone by.

I know right? I remember after interviewing at my home program for my first interview I thought it was gonna be a long season but the last 3 ish months have absolutely breezed by.

I put mine in. I basically followed what the NRMP Prism app had.
I made a few adjustments for other reasons. Im sure i will change it again and again

Me! Although I’ve been thinking about it now since I officially finished interviews.

I didn't really like the prism app because I couldn't really weight what I cared about. I just used one of those elo rank generators where it just gives you pairs of programs over and over to generate a rank list. I went off of that.

I might take one or two more looks at my list before February but I'm pretty much done.

I just had a meeting with our dean. They use a really interesting ranking process. Think of it like an eye exam.

Start with your worst program and compare it to another low rank. Choose which you dislike more. From there take another program and do the same. Work your way up the list. It took me 15 minutes and it cleared up the middle 6 programs I couldn’t rank.

That's an interesting way to rank rather than trying to compare which program is liked more. I will definitely try this, thanks!

I have been done with interviews for about a week now, and I have been having panic attack re: not matching every day since (sometime several times a day). I am so scared with the possibility of not matching.

I feel this my friend. Just trying to take it one day at a time and trust the process.

Do you have the link of the generator that you can share?

This line of thinking helped me figure out what speciality I wanted to go into: think about the worse part of all of them, what do you hate the most. It sounds cynical but when you enjoy a lot of things it’s helpful.

I just used the link you provided and my lists were virtually the same hahah
Good to know my thinking is pretty consistent

I feel you too. I ended up with 5 total interviews. I really love 2 programs and the other 3 are meh. Most of the programs are not too competitive and do have a mixture of AMD , DO and IMG. As an AMG I hope I get one of my top 2. I am also mentally prepared to SOAP. Hope it doesnt come down to that.

Use the app "FYI Decision" .. it allows you to create categories and then weigh the categories in importance to you.. then rank each program (1-10) in each of those categories and it will spit out a rank list and a visual graphic of where each program is beating others etc.

Any people worried about dating prospects in the smaller cities?

Pretty much why those places are at the bottom of my list. If they’re less than an hour away from a major city my plan would be to just commute. People here will try to spin it as not being a “big deal” even though most people will be married and the majority of singles will have children

I honestly didn’t think much about it when I was applying. So most of my places are small college towns....How did we get so old.

It sneaks up on you. If you go straight through you think you’re young enough to date college students as an M1 or even M2. By M4 year you age out. So unless that place has a lot of grad students good luck, and chances are the attractive ones are already married. Hence why you go to a place where there are still a lot of single people in their late 20s/early 30s.

Fam.

Is the permit thing real about Step 2 CS score release?

Still waiting on my score 3 months later
If you are a AMG and your print permit disappeared then you will receive your score on Wednesday. it does not however indicate passing/failing. Good luck.

Wait are you me? Top 2 are awesome, rest are trash.

Yes. Is dating a nurse or OT/PT/speech that bad?

I am an AMG, but my permit is still there.

I'm hoping to get my score tomorrow still, hopefully?

Programs are asking about it. I hope they wait it out a little.

Soo my school told us that we should be reaching out to our #1 and telling them that
Do you really think it will make a difference? I feel like there might be certain circumstances where it could. But I honestly don’t think most programs will alter their rank list considerably because of an email from the applicant.
