Hi all,

I have completed three co-ops at my engineering undergrad which are essentially a semester-long internship of working full time and getting paid. I have worked on three different medical device startups doing research and development.

I have been involved in publications made by some of the companies however i haven't been officially named on any publications yet.

I was wondering if I can list this as research on my applications to school even though its not strictly academic research? Or do i need to make a strong push for academic research to strengthen my application?

I appreciate any feedback thanks!

Is the research hypothesis-based, using the scientific method? What was your role?

Engineering projects are often listed under the "Other" designation. So are internships, since they tend to include multiple components that cross strict "category" lines. The title you give the application entry can make clear what the activity involved.
