Text message forwarding is the way. Just got an invite in the middle of Saturday afternoon because obviously (?). Stay vigilant, and may the odds be ever in your favor!
 
Got an invite. In the two mins it took me to log in all the spots were taken. Signed up for 40 waitlist spots. Within 6 min of the email being sent all waitlist spots were gone too.


This sucks lol, don’t be choosy with dates. Just grab one or you’ll end up like me

This is unacceptable. Medical education really puts us through the ringer. Not right
 
The most shocking thing about ERAS / application fiasco is:
1. We are surprised by this- haven’t you been watching this same dam movie for 4 years. They don’t really care about us to an extent.
2. We will go through it and then quickly put it behind us to face the next challenge and continue to be mistreated and undervalued. So nothing fundamentally changes.

Very common, unfortunately. The hunger games is real and programs don't really care. I made sure to schedule easy rotations during interview season and I still couldn't take a shower or take a sht in peace. RIP to anyone doing surgery rotations. By the time you put down the retractor, scrub out and step out, hellooo waitlist

Yeah honestly, this would make a program fall lower on my rank list regardless. Shows they don't give an f about applicants. It's not that hard to send invites for the amount of spots you have, then send more if you find you still have openings later on. I would be so bummed if this happened to me, especially if it was a program I really wanted to go to.

Yeah they don’t care. 500+ more applicants who will put up with it.

Unfortunately very true. Shreveport did this last year with their gen surg interviews. Was scrubbed in and by the time I got to the invite email less than 30 mins later every interview spot was gone and every waitlist spot was gone. Absolutely ridiculous, but they know they’ll get quality candidates so they don’t care (just one example)

There are some that care.

My top choice has promised not to send out more invites than spots for interviews. It’s not the main reason they’re my top choice, but it will make it hurt even more if they don’t invite me.
 
Is this common in all specialties, or some more than others? The consensus statement from the psychiatry residency training included this comment:

"We recommend that programs not offer more interviews than interview spots. Release of interview offers should be done as late in the day to minimize disruptions to clinical learning and allow applicants 72 hours to respond before releasing the interview offer"

Of course, it doesn't mean that all programs will follow it but I was really hoping that they were taking these recommendations into consideration.
 
Also, is there a thread where applicants put in their interview invites? I'd want to see which programs have sent out interview invites already.

What I don't understand about this is what PDs or programs are supposed to get from inviting more people than there are spots. In the end, they are selecting for the student who is the fastest at the keyboard/sitting in front of his or her computer at a given arbitrary time and sacrificing their ability to interview the applicants who are most desirable or competitive. Why?

I don't think many PDs and residency committees care
 
Anyone here who got an II from Lenox Hill IM able to get a confirmation for an interview date? I had replied back very shortly after getting the II (9/30) but have not heard anything.

I had a similar experience for the program I ultimately matched at! Madness is right
 
2 emails from programs which made my heart drop-- 1 Q&A and 1 supplemental app. Gah
 
No rads interviews yet... but I got two from my IM backups today!

I only applied to seven IM programs and only five of them used signals... so I was in the nice position where I could signal literally every program I applied to that took signals lol. All of my apps were for community-based university-affiliated programs in places I'd really like to live, so they're good backups in the best way. They're definitely in better areas than some of the rads programs I applied to for sure.

So basically can confirm that there are no bombs on my app now, so I can finally take a breath.
 
Is it a good sign if we get a supplemental application from a program or nah?
 
Anyone use residency explorer? If so, there's a category called "other career intentions or plans". Does anyone know what that implies?
