MD & DO Co’22 ERAS Panic Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I only have 1 interview for Anesthesiology. According to Reddit spreadsheet for Anesthesiology, most programs have not sent out invites yet. A lot of East coast programs only invite local in-state and own home schools. I am very nervous if the invites come in during my audition and sub-intern rotations coming up. I need advice from anyone that I can request days off during my audition and sub-intern rotations for interviews.

Was gonna post in the usmle comlex thread but most of u are here anyways. Just got my level 2 score back and I dropped (by 1 point) you think this matters? since I dropped like 10% in percentile. Many of you know I dont have a step 2 yet bc of my high step 1 (taking CK Nov 1st).

Level 1: 671
Level2: 670

Also how do I update my scores to ERAS?? Anyone know?

Can you share any reason why you think this happened?
This is something ive been thinking about for a year and a half now. I wish I knew. I did apply to competitive programs (and interviewed at), though for FM. (Penn and Jefferson, just as examples).

I interviewed poorly for med school, maybe that happened again, idk. I also didnt do so hot on step 1 either, but that wasnt a barrier to interview either.

I technically dropped %ile-wise as well on step 2 and level 2, no one has cared that I'm aware of

I doubt anyone cares. Also you just have to resend your COMLEX transcript like you did the first time. Select all programs and send it.

I remember you rocked Step 1 and Level 1 did you still get at least your Step 1 and Level 1 score?

I was almost 30 points lower on level 2. Totally ignored omm and it was by far my lowest section lol. 1 point higher on step 2 than step 1. I have only heard positive comments about my scores so far, no comments on not performing as well.

I dropped over 100 points from Level 1 to Level 2 and have plenty of interviews (applying neuro), I don't think anyone cares lol. I did go up by 10 points on USMLE though.

Anyone know the best time to send LOIs to places? I know it's early, but I want to be able to have enough time at the same time.

Idk about regular LOIs, but I sent my first one yesterday.

A place invited me to interview yesterday that filled all their w/l and interview spots before I got there - crap reception in the bottom floor of the hospital and all. I'm irritated at that one because it's an IR interview. I have family in that area so I straight up sent them a LOI saying so, and asking if they could please keep me in mind if they added any more dates or times. Idk if that was appropriate but I am so over all these places overinviting us. "We look forward to meeting you" my butt. If you looked forward to meeting us, how about you have enough space for us so you can actually meet us? Smh.

It seems the general advice is wait until they've sent out a round or two of invites. If they haven't sent out any invites yet, then I would wait until they send out at least one round because you don't want to risk annoying them while they're still reviewing everyone's apps. If your specialty has some kind of unified release date, then definitely wait until after that.

The program where I went to undergrad has sent out two waves per the spreadsheet on Reddit and send invites on a rolling basis so I'm probably going to send them something on Monday. I figured a polite but non-overbearing/butt kissing email showing interest couldn't hurt and at least then I can say I did everything I could to get their attention.

if anyone is interested in the eras application statistics for this year.

Still early though. You have 4 and more to come I am sure.
Everyone says it's early but I have classmates with 7-12 and for some reason anxiety starts to hit. No one has layed out when early, middle cycle, and late cycle are so it's hard to judge how things will go.

Seeing people with double digit interviews already bums me out. It’d be so nice to hit my goal number two weeks in.

What is this october 20th date everyone keeps mentioning at my school? Even my PD mentioned it yesterday. Anyone know?

what did your PD say?
We had a meeting just to discuss the interview process and people were asking about when to be worried if they don't have enough interview invites. The PD said "I know some programs are waiting until Oct 20 but, I think you should see most invites roll in within the next week or two." And a friend of mine also mentioned something about not being worried until after Oct 22....I just thought I missed something but maybe not

For EM, that’s the unified release date. About 30 to 40 programs are saying they won’t release invites until then.

Some specialties have release dates, although I know for IM/anesthesia we don't have it officially. What specialty was this?

For everyone worrying with 4+ interviews I have 1 lol its still early
You likely will end up with more than 4 within the next couple weeks now that you've submitted your above average level 2. That's not necessarily true for me. I'm being screened really hard by a lot of programs.

Edit: While typing this I got an invite from one of my top programs lol.

Is anybody getting anything for Thanksgiving week? Just curious, because I don't have anything. I'm wondering if programs skip this over and I'd be safe to take a trip or something. I have "board study" for November so I'm completely free. Would be nice to do something instead of just freaking out.

I have one that Monday. No availability showing for later in the week for any of mine.

Ok just got another great University program. Never had 2 invites in one day before, so I guess they are rolling in now. Currently at 6, if I get one from my current audition that will be 7. I just need 3 more to feel comfortable.

That's awesome to hear. Mind PMing me to discuss your cycle so far?

Damn why is the ortho spreadsheet such a dumpster fire compared to all the others? I looked at several and they are by far the most toxic.

THEY ARE ACTIVELY TRYING TO KILL EACH OTHERS' APPS AND DOXX PEOPLE OVER DUMB SOCIAL MEDIA CRAP BEFORE THEIR INTERVIEW RELEASE DAY.

Not even the gen surg or EM people are being that toxic!!!
yikes, you're not kidding

makes me 1000x more glad that all of the other applicants i've interacted with in my specialty have been super kind and supportive

you are going to be just fine my haitian bro.

It’s wild. The average ortho applicant is applying to almost 100 programs.
frankly, i don't see it slowing down anytime either. By the time I apply in 2 years, I'm sure that i'll be applying to that many programs at least, if not more. There's only one solution to this arms race, and that's application caps.

App caps and a reliable, honest MSAR for residency programs.

I thought residency explorer was meant to be honest and accurate.
Yeah, prob meant to be. But when people don’t answer they aren’t as helpful. The ideal thing would be something that programs are required to respond to.
