A ton of invites started going out from the day of release on in IM. I didn’t get my first invite for like 12 days after they went out and I was panicking as I watched the other MS4s on my sub-I getting a bunch.
Yeah it was an HCA program that made the bottom 5 on my list lololol

You can submit now if you want! ERAS lets you assign letters after submission. Our school specifically tells us not to wait on late letters to submit, just in case that is helpful

You can submit even if you dont have the letter! If you have other letters you should be good as you can assign letters even after submission if this calms nerves a bit. Im sure your letter writer will upload soon we still have a week technically. Youll be fine

Do it as many times as you need amigo. I looked over my whole app and PS 7 times and the first 5 I kept finding small inconsistencies and formatting errors.
I was worried about this too last year. They both took less than 10 minutes. I think they say it “can” take several days if there is a problem, but in reality it doesn’t usually.
No they don’t, it says so on eras only you can see the name
Nah it specifies they can't see what you name it, that's just for you to make sure you assign the correct ones. I have the same thing.
My issue comes more with programs that specify "no more than x amount of letters". I have an extra letter in case this one falls through, but I don't want to submit 2 letters to a program and then be screwed because the letter I'm waiting on should carry way more weight than the backup one I have. I definitely won't be submitting late, though. If I don't have the letter by Monday I'll submit regardless and count my losses for those few programs that have a hard limit on number of LORs. Just hate this whole process. I'd appreciate a response to my email like "hey, no worries. I'm working on it and it should be ready soon!". I hate the complete silence and no response.
Ughhh thats frustrating! I think thats a good plan to submit monday regardless. Yeah i hate that too when they cant give you a courtesy email it takes literally 5 seconds to say “working on it will send in X days”

Anyone has any idea how program specific letters like these help your chances? Wouldnt programs just think you sending this to everyone? Kinda like love letters .
Idk but i want them to know I want to go there i highlighted specific reasons of why I wanna go their based on unique aspects of their program. It certainly cant hurt and a lot of people from previous years told me after they sent letters of interest during the interview cycle they got invites immediately meaning that showing interest matters. As a DO applying to competitive academic IM programs with mostly if not all MDs I need to show them I wanna go there if I want a shot at an interview at all (already at a significant disadvantage as a DO and many of them will be donations but hey it is what it is). Obvi im applying broadly but still if it doesnt help it doesnt help but at least I did everything I could
I was advised by a resident to do this and explain why you want their program specifically. For instance, I want my choice program because it's close to my family and it has the kind of population I want to serve. I would guess its effectiveness is proportional to how much you care about that specific program's perks/things that attract you especially, if you let them know.

I put every school where I have a transcript. For medical school, I had to include the 1 summer class i took at an online school and I included it again on ERAS.
I was advised to put college sports in experiences. I put my one year of college tennis in experiences

it would go under volunteer. volunteer is for extra curriculars that are not paid.

Yes, sort of. You can edit your PS, and then you can re-assign it to a program. It will replace the old PS. The program will be able to see that you replaced the PS, but they will not be able to see the old one. Unless they have printed it.
oh gross. so should I just delete my PS and reupload it? I have not submitted yet but noticed an error and "updated" my PS that had not yet been assigned.
Lol you haven’t even submitted.. what are you worried about then? It will update the error when you submit. No one else can see that you edited it…
just wasnt sure if because I updated it after uploading that programs would get that lil "yo he edited his PS".
Ive heard through word of mouth that they might just read 3 and ignore the 4th. idk how true this is. if you have 4 strong it shouldnt matter
I read in the terms and agreements or whatever that they check to make sure your name, birthdate and all that info on your eras matched your USMLE number so you should be good as long as you don't get any messages saying something didn't match up!... Not sure about Comlex cuz I'm MD but I assume its the same!
