Hey guys,

I wanted to know where to start with arguably one of the hardest section on the Dat the Pat section. My questions are where do I start to build a good foundation and what materials/methods I can use and learn to consistently score 20+. I am a novice at this section so if anybody could provide something they learned that they could have implemented to score better on there dat and any advice in general is greatly appreciated.

Thank You

Go on YouTube and watch some videos. Best place to start.

When I took the dat, I actually felt that crack the dat pat was more similar than bootcamp to the real thing. I was never good at PAT, and my PAT score was my basically my lowest score on the whole test. I would say use bootcamp to challenge yourself and then treat crack the dat pat tests like the real thing. Only thing bootcamp has over crack the dat PAT is proportions. However, the proportions on the real thing aren't as hard. I scored a 23 on the PAT section and was scoring 21-25 on Crack the dat PAT.

No because DBC has enough to keep you occupied.

Datgenius also has some nice free generators.

So its wroth getting CDP? If so what plan would you recommend

If I had to study for the PAT again, I'd get the plan with 5 PAT tests.

Get DAT Achiever. I think they now have a 10 pack version that will cover you from head to tail all that you would need for the PAT and the other three sections too.

Bootcamp is more than enough to do well on the PATs. You have to practice a lot and figure out a strategy so you will have enough time to finish the section.

Gonna chime in, got a 24 PAT and the best I got on practices was around a 19, maybe 20.
Achiever was awesome because it is so hard. I walked away with bad scores but worked at it and when I took the real thing it felt super easy. Yes, there were ones I guessed on because they were difficult, but I never felt pressed for time and never really worried about my score.

That said, consistent, daily practice is what will get you the score you need. And doing things differently if they aren't paying dividends.

Interesting all of the sudden everybody bring up achiever but do you think it will work for 2016 because people are usually using BC or CDP

You can't go wrong with this software that is consistently updated with new questions. Like brigdawg521 said, don't feel discouraged with the low scores you are going to get from achiever. They are meant to prepare you for the worst scenario. It could be keyholes, top-front-end, or some other section. You're getting drilled definitely for a good purpose. Don't risk yourself for a retake.

I also think that daily practice was an important part of score. I was much lower than some of the posters in this thread (19), but I feel that my performance on all the subsections benefitted from downloading a few DAT-specific apps to iPhone and practicing regularly.

DAT Bootcamp generators for 1hr every day was enough for me to do well.

Hole punching is getting more difficult on the DAT lately and certainly won't be something you would see on ADA 2007. Make sure you practice it well with the right tool till you can unfold the paper comfortably.

Any recommendations people have been saying dat achiever; implying that dat bc and CDP just are not that difficult

CDP isn't as polished imo as BC. BC is as close as you can get to the real DAT, but it is a bit harder. Go with BC because it will prepare you the most but you also gain access to the section generators, which are priceless.

Do as I say, BC all the way. Just practice everyday. Bars.

The DAT summer prep classes at my university have been using DAT Achiever year after year. Whatever that you use, make sure they are challenging enough to prepare you for the worst cuz not all DAT exams are all of the same difficulty level.

Where would you rank dat achiever didficutly compared with dat bc

I have not used Bootcamp so can't judge personally on that. But the general consensus should be the Achiever being the hardest practice you could find. Just treat it as a stringent practice. That's how people become pro by training the hard way.

Just in case any of you may not have been aware of, the DAT now allows you to cross out answers just like what has been allowed on the MCAT. This feature is also available on DAT Achiever. Make sure you practice using this feature especially for the angle ranking and any other section of the tests like biology, gchem and ochem, ... you might find a need for.

Be very careful with DAT Achiever. They have been creating all these fake accounts and posts to self-promote their product. @Dmitry @gabtse @Wall2Wall are all accounts from 2010, 5 years ago, and all of a sudden are pushing DAT achiever super hard. I'd stick to Bootcamp and Destroyer

Man, bootcamp is great. I'm slaying the hole punching and cube counting sections right now. But their angle ranking section is insanely tough though i'm still practicing a lot. Was it like that on your real DAT?

Nooo, at least not for my test. I would say mines were more like the ones on 2009 DAT.

on my DAT last august I had half holes/ partial punches, that section suckedddd

I took the DAT today and there were a few things that were like nothing I'd seen in BC practice. There were some ridiculously intricate objects for keyholes and I struggled with some of the hole punching ones even though they were a breeze for me in practice tests.

Any guidance on what you did to score well on the pat and how your exam was in general any tips that helped you throughout the process. Thank you

The boot camp practices prepared me well even though there were a few things that caught me off guard on the actual test, I still scored better on the real test than my highest score from boot camp

hey I got a 28 on the PAT section and thought I'd chime in. Practice as much as you can. DAT Genius and Bootcamp have generators that give you unlimited practice. Taked timed practice tests. Some sections, like angle ranking, take less time than other sections. Also, find a technique that works for you for each section and stick with it. Practice that technique and you'll become more accurate and faster at it every time.
