Could anyone chance me for all 3 branches?
3.44 GPA
21AA/21TS
Multiple leadership positions, 100+ shadow, 150+ volunteer, currently working as a dental assistant

Pretty sure you don't reach the cutoff for Air Force GPA, but I think Army you do

Thank you for the response but, I assume just reaching the cutoff is not enough to be accepted?
Correct, there is more to it than just reaching the cutoff. LORs indicating leadership and your motivational statement are important. There are also other factors that are out of your control such as how many spots are available each year. This changes year to year/branch to branch and is not published as far as I am aware.

Your stats should be competitive to apply for both the Army and Navy. All you can do is apply and see what happens. If you are wanting to be on HPSP for C/O 2024, you should get your applications submitted asap.

Anecdotal evidence/advice: I had somewhat higher stats and I was more nervous about getting HPSP than I was for actually getting into a school. I only applied for the 4 year Army and was selected. In retrospect, I think those that apply and really want it will get it. If not the 4 year, then the 3 year scholarship is also a good option.

I agree with the above statement! But yes, if you are interested in it I would get in contact with a recruiter ASAP since you need all types of paperwork filled out, you'll need to request your letters of recommendation, do you statement of motivation, and complete your MEPS physical which is an all-day thing that requires planning as well!

Would a 3.36 GPA 20 AA/TS be unlikely to get the scholarship?

My Navy HPSP application was sent to the processor this week and the processor is submitting it today. Any idea how long it takes to hear back? My recruiter didn’t give me a straight answer.

Board for the Navy isn't till December so you likely won't hear till sometime in January. That's my guess.

Do you know specific date when it'll be due by chance?
Your recruiter can tell you specific dates. If you are just now thinking about applying. I would recommend to get on it because it is a ton of paper work and you have to go to MEPS, letter of recommendations, and statement of purpose.

My recruiter doesn't know the specific date unfortunately.. I'm basically done with my packet except I'm enlisted so there's couple more things i need to do.

I don't remember the specific date either... your recruiter should know or should be able to find out.

Sounds like your recruiter is not dedicated to their job. I literally just texted mine and she gave me the date of January 14th is when things need to be submitted and January 28th is the board.

Yeah it seems like so but thanks for the date

Does where you go to school effect your chances of getting the Navy scholarship? Say if you went to a school closer to the coast vs more inland.

If you're applying to multiple branches and get accepted to 2 or more, can you accept all of the offers until just before starting school such as with dental schools?

I believe that if you get accepted to more than one, you have to make a decision because you are able to only sign with one, which you should do well before dental school starts to ensure that you are able to set up everything related to tuition and monthly stipend.

So let's say I get accepted into the Army in January, I accept, but then later on get accepted into the Navy in March. Am I able to back out of the Army and take the Navy scholarship at that point? At what point are you not able to back out?

That I am not sure about. You may have to ask your recruiter how long you have to accept the scholarship and you may want to wait until you hear back from both to accept one if it is not on a strict timeline.

The moment you sign your contract it is binding. Candidates will either be selected or non-selected, the selected candidates will have their information from the boards sent to get scrolled, you will have a background check conducted, fill out more paperwork, and at some point you will sign your official contract.

The moment you sign the contract and raise your right hand.....it’s over.

I've had to get some forms and an updated MRI for a past injury and it has taken longer then I expected. I was just cleared by a doctor for military activity and still need to schedule MEPS. Am I too late to have my application in for the first board for the Army HPSP?

Better get on it. It will be a lot of paperwork and MEPS is a process in itself.

Quick Question on Timeline, if I want to apply to HPSP for class of 2025, when is it recommended that I begin reaching out to a recruiter? (Planning to take DAT sometime end of may 2020 and apply to schools by June 2020) . Thanks!

I would say right after you apply/same time as you apply! I know the army they wouldn't match me with a recruiter until they had a copy of my DAT scores, and with both Army and Air Force they wanted a list of the schools that I had applied to.

Was thinking of applying for 3 year HPSP for Navy and AF next year and saw somewhere someone said only people not selected for the 4 year for Navy are considered for the 3 year, is this true?

Also, if anyone could chance me for 3 year Navy and AF:
3.7 cGPA, 23AA, 150+ hours shadowing, 200+ hours volunteering, multiple leadership in clubs–have GRE scores if they want that as well
- are there other factors that they consider?

Hi, I got the email that states "You worked hard to get into dental school. We’ll work hard to help you pay for it." today. However, dental school acceptances are not given until December 2nd. What does this mean?

I got that email as well. Rumor has it that at least for Rutgers, anyone with that email means they are getting an acceptance. Did you interview @ Rutgers?

How did that rumor get started?
Based in historical context that a friend of friend discovered. If your status on AADSAS changed to 'check back on Dec 2' and you got this, there is a huge chance that you're in.
But honestly, it is all speculation.

Nope, at Detroit mercy. There was a recruiter there but I didn’t give anyone my email or anything of the sort. I know other people that interviewed there and some didn’t get them while others did.

I got this email as well. Have interviewed at 3 schools, none of which are Rutgers or Detroit mercy

I've heard that the air force board convenes on the 5th and results will be released within a few weeks. Anyone know the historical trend for the time between the boards and notifications?

Thanks!

Last year they were supposed to meet on Dec 15 but didn't end up meeting until mid/late January but I think people were notified fairly soon after. Typical military time, they run on their own schedule and often not on time so there's a chance you'll have to put down two deposits if you're deciding between two and waiting to hear about the scholarship to determine costs.

Anyone hear any stories of people who didn't receive the scholarship and possible reasons why they didn't? Person in my class here claims the Navy found him to be unpatriotic in his interview- despite a 26AA.

No anecdotes from me, but the Army doesn't have interviews 🙂
