even if both are true
To me, ‘even if’ gives a Presupposition of disbelief and/or doubtfulness.
Multiple times, in a non-ironic way
But to say it's always in a joking way is disingenuous.
That was all one long sentence. Either joking or in context of the conversation. Although, I don’t see how you can see a direct statement such as that in any other light than as a joke or just someone who is a pure dingus.
the thread would have been made by such a person.
Again, people aren’t required for ‘looking after’ themselves. I feel anxiety, I made a thread for anxiety. That is the end of it.

Poor memelord

Yes, also in this same boat. But I feel like a high MCAT yields much better chances than high GPA. so I agree the inverse would be more suited for me as well, but I also try to remind myself that even if such a thread existed, it would change absolutely nothing for my chances and ultimately just lead to more stress. That's how I operate. It may not affect you as much and that's cool. But like I said, we're all only human.

I will agree that if you had to pick, 3.5 or 3.6/520 is slightly preferable to 4.0/506 or 4.0/508.

We definitely need all of the reassurance we can get during this time. There will always be someone more competitive, and regardless of how many II we do or don't have now none of us will be completely satisfied until we have an acceptance in hand.

About the whole high GPA / meh MCAT scenario... I'd gladly trade 0.2 of my sGPA for 2 points of someone's MCAT 😉

I’d have taken that deal! 3.8/517 > 3.6/519.

OK this is a damn good meme but I am PISSED that you made me Ron and REALLY PISSED you equated me and MemeLord to cali
We aren’t being equated.

I am the one who thinks he is smarter than everyone else

Calipremed is the chosen one

You are the side character that turns out to be the real hero

Yet here we all are, still in trouble.
Tbh wasn't even thinking when I made the meme, but it kinda worked out LMAO

You forgot the part when Ron and Hermione get married and have babies : )))))
I am greatly flattered by your interest in my baby making parts and appreciate the offer to put a ring on this, but I am fairly comfortable with by current ring-and-baby-making status.

Not applying this cycle, but just realized that my GPA is at bottom 10% and MCAT is at top 10% for Baylor, which I was hoping would be my most realistic choice. I don't know if I want to laugh or cry

It was right around this time of the year last year that I realized the same thing - if I got a high MCAT then every school where the MCAT matched would give be like 10% GPA...making a school list is fun like that...

@MemeLord regardless of whether we need/deserve/etc. a support thread.... I feel better after reading this (despite the fact that it's 3-page SDN thread).

I am glad to hear that you have a place to come in this thread. Despite the naysayers, there is a silent want for a thread like this. I can tell why no one has made one based on the pushback, but I am also glad we have it and willing to take the flack from that pushback.

Alright, slightly-discordant-high-stats folks, how we doing? Memelord rolling in with your weekly support.

This is gonna be your week.

And if it isn’t your week, that means it was someone else’s week and you should be happy for them.

No matter what happens, be happy that you or someone else was successful. We are all in this together, fam.

What are Baylor's median cGPA and median MCAT?

I’d have taken that deal! 3.8/517 > 3.6/519.

It depends on where the 3.6 and the 3.8 are from. If the 3.8 is from an average or easy school (e.g. Podunk U) and the 3.6 from a school known for deflation (e.g. MIT), the 3.6/519 may very well be the more attractive candidate.

I disagree. It is much more than "slightly" preferable: 72 or 73 Lizzy M >> 68 or 69 Lizzy M. Stats like the latter suggest grade inflation or an easy undergraduate curriculum.

New MCAT to Old MCAT
506 = 28
508= 29
520 = 37

To make this thread a bit more productive and take it in it’s original direction: To those with discordant Stats (where one is high and the other is comparatively low for the schools you want to apply to) how did you go about making your school list?

1. Try as best as humanly possible to find schools where my GPA hovers around 10% with a focus on the geographical areas I want.
2. Say **** it and apply to schools that have special programs in things that align with my app and future goals, despite the fact that my GPA is abysmally off the deep end of the accepted scale.
3. Profit?

Edit: Do my best to avoid high GPA fiends like BU, St. Louis, NYU, etc.

Exactly, to a tee, what I did. Still waiting on the profit. Low GPA, somewhat-above-average MCAT, for reference.

Slightly?
I would guess 3.6/520 is closer in competitiveness to a 4.0/517 assuming standard check boxy ECs...the GPA is probably irrelevant if one is super in all other application respects.

Side note: Totally realized I was just describing myself and that the way I evaluate other applicants is different than the way I evaluate myself.

I totally didn’t need to make this thread.
