Thanks for all your support everyone, I appreciate it. I interviewed on Sept. 18th and just found out today. I owe $500 by December. They are going to e-mail me about that stuff later.

Whew, that's good. I heard something about that we had 2 weeks to decide and send in our deposit. At least I can interview and maybe hear back from some MD schools if I get into DMU early.

I had an awesome experience with DMU. The students and administration are the nicest people you will ever meet. There were many aspects about Des Moines that I really liked too such as the cleanliness of the city, friendliness, and cost of living. For the campus, I liked the wireless campus, SPALs, OMM department, curriculum, history, and rotation sites. Overall, the school was awesome. Not the biggest place, but very good. I hope this helps.

Well I am now complete at DMU as of 11/7. Now I just sit and wait. For those of you who know, now what?? What is the review process like and how long will I be waiting? Do you think I will here back before Christmas?

Current and future students at DMU seem really helpful and super nice! I hope to be a part of Class of 2008!!

Yay for getting through all that paperwork!!

The review process really depends on many factors. On average, it should take them at least a few weeks to get back to you, and if you get an interview, they have to give you a few weeks notice. So, if all goes expediently well, you just might get an interview before Christmas. Of course, this depends on how many spots they've already scheduled, and how much they'd like to interview you. In any case, dress warmly, especially for those who get scheduled for January-March. (I have yet to experience the full-on coldness of the midwest 😱 )

Anyway, yeah, just sit back and relax now. I hear "Elf" is hilarious...

Aww man, I wish I saw that!! I was going to catch it last week, but it was sold out! So we saw Scary Movie 3, and honestly, I laughed more during the trailer for "Elf". I'll have to watch that next week after the fourth and final histo test 😀 I just saw Master and Commander (did Fandango this time) and it was pretty good.

I received my interview invite today (11/24). This is my 2nd invite today! I am pretty damn excited. There is only one problem...

My interview is scheduled for Jan 15th and my classes start on the 14th. This is going to be tough considering I will have to fly there from Michigan...maybe I will drive...either way I will be missing the first 2 days of class. I hope my profs are understanding...

is there any chance of rescheduling if I have to?

Congrats!!!

The admission's office is usually very receptive to your scheduling needs. Just give them a call and tell them your situation. The interview dates before your currently scheduled one are Jan. 8th or 9th, if that helps you.

I had my interview with DMU at San Francisco on 11/15. I haven't heard anything from them since then. I wanted to know how long it usually takes them to get back after an interview and if anyone knows when the committee last met. I tried to contact people in admissions but no one has responded or they don't seem to really know. Any info would be really helpful. Thanks!😕

It took 11 days for my acceptance call, you should get yours soon. How did your interview go?

It was so great! I really liked everyone I met and they were all really nice. DMU is one of my top choices...if they accept me that is. 🙄 The most interesting part is that I got to eat luch with my interviewer BEFORE my interview so I felt like my interview started before the actual set time. It was wierd. Overall though, it was one of my best experiences in an interview

I'm glad to hear your experience was a good one. I can reassure you that the people in Des Moines are incredibly friendly and it is one of the nicest cities I've been in. Hope to see you next year.

As far as I know, no. I didn't sign up to be a host because I don't have an extra bed, and my couch isn't long enough for a normal-sized person to sleep comfortably on. However, there are many very cool people who are on that list, but not on SDN. I guess they aren't *that* cool 😉

Ok, so I am trying to book a flight to DM for my interview on the 8th of Jan. Any suggestions? I am looking to arrive the evening of the 7th and leave the evening of the 8th. What time do interview days usually end? I'm assuming a flight at 6:50pm. will be good??

I am going to call a student host also in the coming days. How am I going to get from the airport to apt and apt to school and back? I hope student hosts are willing to help. I guess I will call and find out.

A flight at 6:50 pm would be fine. The interview day usually ends at about 3:30 (depending on your interview time). You could call Becky Grissom or Genya Freeman to find out arrangements to get to the school. If you need any suggestions about student hosts, I will be glad to give you some names of people that I know there. PM me if you have any more questions.

I'm currently a DO/MPH'05 student doing my rotations w/ CORE in Columbus, Ohio Doctors Hospital. I'm in my OB/Gyn rotation which doesn't allow me to have much free time but I'll do my best to answer any questions you may have.
