I think your right about business casual. I think I will dress like that for the first day then switch to shorts and t-shirt for the rest of the week.

Definitely the way to go.
There will be people in shirt and tie or business suits the whole orientation week and they will be sweating and miserable.

Khaki's and a polo shirt for guys is plenty for intro day. After that relax and be comfortable.

The shirts and ties will stop after about the first week of classes and most everyone will start to wear shorts and t-shirts which will make you look like a trendsetter and thus will make you popular and everyone will want to be your friend 😀

I was thinking it might be funny to wear my "The MCAT is my bitch" T-shirt for picture day as my "Trust me. I'm a doctor" T-shirt might be too controversial... LOL

Yeah I think I saw that handsome FS feller from a distance. I'll stop by and say howdy next time.

jbone, huntr, and myself we're settled in up front for the first meeting. what an informative day. 😴 nah... it was ok. I was tired by the end though.

The cubs game was fun.

I think it's time we start a Halo club. Who's in?

Next time say hello cause i don't think I've met anyone from this site yet. Not that I know of anyways.

I don't see a thread from the Class of 2009...or I would have posted it there..

We (Nova Southeastern) just got a "new" OPP physician/professor down here that just came from your school. I was just wondering anyone who as been @ DMU for awhile knows if he is good, or if anyone here knows anything about him. I didn't catch his name, but he is a middle aged man who is balding...I know...great description.

kaikai, I heard that one of the DMU OMM profs went east...perhaps this is him. If it is, I heard he is one of the best and one of the reasons DMU has topped the OMM portion of the boards for the past couple of years.

It may be Dr. Boesler (the OMM prof of great reknown previously mentioned). He left last year and none of the second years have any clue why. I figure it must have been for mas dineros???

There's a picture of him somewhere in the pre-orientation events photos from last year. Oh yeah, my last name's Roske. I've only met Redneck, Huntr and ItsElectric so far (I think).

I bet it was him... that sucks that he's gone, all I ever heard was what an advocate for DMU students he was... and a likeable guy too.

Oh, and all I need is a time and place and I'll bring an XBox, Halo 2, and a couple controllers... WORD!

From what I've heard, definitely wasn't bc of the money.. He did seem like a great guy on the interview day though and everyone seemed to love him.

I am a second year here at DMU and we do miss Dr Boesler. He was a very passionate man who really enjoyed teaching OMM. That being said, the interim chair of the OMM dept., Dr Wooley, is also very good. She is very down to earth and approachable, and definitely knows her stuff. I look forward to learning from her this year and I know she will be a wonderful part of your first year here at DMU!

I would like to say that the PDAs rock. As a computer nerd, this is orgasmic. I mean...maybe I should get out more often...

Nah, that would be entirely too easy...get ready for class on Monday

Out of curiousity...what classes do you guys start Monday??

Anyone looked at the lecture schedule for Intro to Osteopathic Med & seen who is the main lecturer? Boesler did it last year & I was just curious who is going to be 'flinging to the wind the banner of osteopathy.' You guys will see that quote if you read Gevitz.

If I met someone from here, I definitely didn't know it. I possibly need to step up my detective skills, or everyone else here needs to provide more information on themselves.

I know DJnels lives at the same apartment building as me, but I'm pretty sure I haven't met him. I figure there are still many introductions ahead of us, since the first day of class hasn't even begun. I look forward to it all.....minus the actual work.

Im the naked one, geez. Im not hard to miss, 6'2" and going bald ( I know I sound too sexy, but, hey it's a curse and I have come to accept it). I am, most likely, the only person named Jamey and I generally wear funny shirts (or what I think is funny 😛). Tomorrow I shall wear my Family Guy shirt (Peter fighting the Giant Chicken). Oh and I am usually near my douche bag roomate because I have to keep him from doing something stupid. Eat that bitch :meanie: :meanie:

Anyone make it to the Iowa State Fair this weekend?

Can a stupid person be a smart-ass?

I think the real question is who didn't make it to the state fair? I think only one word can really sum up the state fair: EXTRAORDINARY. I mean, a life size cow and superman made out of butter, free mentos, free milk. Almost didn't make it to class today due to the pure joy that this wonderous event brought me. I however, will never be going to the Iowa State Fair ever again. Believe me, once is enough.

Amen to that 👍

As an Iowan, I am slightly hurt by the once is enough comment. J/k...I always have a pretty good time there & usually they have some really good country bands there (if you like that kind of stuff). Oh & I pretty much have to go every year b/c my wife would be crushed if we missed a year....Gotta love inheriting the in-laws' traditions.

Also gotta love BioChem, right first years!?? Advice for next year...you might as well not study for your Preventive Med/Nutrition test next year b/c it is definitely going to be random **** that in no way seems relevant. Bitter??...possibly. Seriously though...how many Alaskan Indians will we ever see damn it.

We love Biochem it is fun and I enjoy my three hours of it and only wished there was more time in the day to hear more about free energy and...hold on I just puked a little in my mouth...wow...that is bad.

I wanna see an Alaskan Indian, I wonder if they hunt seals...poor baby seals...(yumm) :scared:

Alright, I'm dying here. Is there an actual questionnaire that we fill out for the PWP somewhere, or is the questionnaire all of those consent forms we receive during orientation.

If there is some sort of fitness questionnaire somewhere, please God, tell me where it is. I don't want to be the only numb nuts that doesn't bring mine.

Hey Electric, I'm in #75, which one are you in?

The PWP questionnaire was in our orange folders that we got last week on the first day of orientation. It's kinda thick... I still need to do mine tonight, but at least I don't have to go in at 7:45 like the janitor-

Nice shootin' today misparas, jbone, soundman, and janitor - I was the big oaf sweatin' my balls off on the treadmill upstairs. Wish I coulda joined you. Anyone else bored to tears during our afternoon lectures today?

Alright, the only thing I got in my orange folder concerning the PWP is thick, but it's basically a bunch of consent forms. I'll assume that's all I have to do. Try 7:15 in the a.m. 😱

I'm in #21 on the East side of the complex. We'll definitely have to meet up sometime.

Yea, that was the longest game of 'round the world I've ever played. Man, we suck. BTW, I hope your balls grow back. Good luck with that!
Yea, class sucked....balls?

Lord, I apologize.

I can't believe you are still up at this time jbone. You should get to sleep, big day tomorrow with them peptides.

Yea, janitor and jbone were all jealous of my incredible basketball prowess. It was quite a site none the less.

Anybody thinking attending class is kinda useless??
Possibly, but I'd hate to be spending this kind of money just to skip class. The way I figure, it's the first week and I might as well go to them all now, to get a feel for who lectures well and who doesn't...

Some of it just seems a waste of time (like I phase out when I hear about protein structure again) and I ahve to ask myself if it is really worth sitting there for four hours or would I be better off at home going to classes that are A)required or B) for lessons that don't fully grasp

This is becoming a bit of a struggle for me, but we are paying sooooo much for it.

Eh, we are paying to use the resources, that doesn't mean going to class if we feel that we can teach ourselves. Im trying it today (no biochem) and see how much I know during the review session. If I don't know **** about enzymes, there is something wrong with my undergraduate education. Now it is time to go back to my self study

BTW, soundman called you a slacker.
