Dude pass is all we need. Especially in a 1 credit hour course.

Thanks for the heads up B. I was trying to make a joke after OMM lecture today... apparently I should stick to medicine and leave the comedy to Dr. Wilson-

Obviously I'm failing in my ability to actually read forums and respond appropriately. I'm just not very bright.

Are you guys on campus studying?? I need to get some of your guys' phone #'s.
Can you say welcome to lower quartile for me??? Hey, someone's gotta be there.

I got it, that is all that matters. I can't believe they pick my name out of the hat for maybe male...or maybe female.

Sorry, studying at home with the TV on (trust me, no one likes to study with me, I need constant distraction to study (odd, I know)). If I am not overstimulated with things, my mind tends to wander. I guess that is why I tell my gf I need all those extra women in the bed.... 👍

It's all good, my dad's name is Jan-

FS-Pro I'll be joining you in "that quarter" of the class!

This is true, but IOM is by far the easiest course of your 2 didactic years with Radiology being the only possible exception because they give you most of the questions, or at least they did for us.

Nothing wrong with being in the bottom quarter of the class, 25% will be 🙂

However if you're gonna be there, be there because thats the best you can do, not because you half-assed your way to get there.

While I agree that they gave us many hints as to what to remember for the test, the expectation that we learn 5000+ years of medicine in one week is Draconian. I also think that, if this information was stuff that I would use as a physician someday (like every other class in med school) I would probably care a little more about learning it.

Even the Hoff'ster said not to worry about this test. So I waited until the night before to study, and I passed it. I'm purging most of that information in hopes that there will be more room for Biochem before Wednesday's test. Oh Michaelis and Menton, you two really know how to drive a guy nuts 😉

If you thought IOM was a lot of info to learn in 1 week, good luck with Biochem and Anatomy especially when they're both going at the same time.! 🙁

This was probably one of the few tests you can wait until the night before and still have a good chance of passing.

Get that kid to come back in and sing us a song about Biochemistry

Hope ya'll are enjoying b. med. I know I am!

Guess I should have gone, I hear it was mandatory... wasn't on the calendar as mandatory! Oh well, BC is more important anyway- Good luck to everyone with your studying.

I didn't go. They need to tell us this stuff.

The day before our first big biochem exam. I didn't want to hear about poetry and feel good stuff, when I could be learning about enzyme kinetics.

Oh well. We just have to watch a video of it.

What is the filename for the MP3 of the poems and doll playing?

It's listed under Auditorium:

2006-08-18-07-27-54

His first poem starts about 10 minutes in.

It's awesome.

As far as behavioral med goes, you could skip the entire course and I could teach you more over a 6 pack of beers at Wellman's while watching Monday night football.

Speaking of lecture MP3's you guys all know how to listen to Lecture MP3's at 1.4-2.0 speed on Window's media player right? Saves a heckuva lot of time! 👍

Wow!!! That was......interesting. Better keep that on the DL or it could be as much of a blemish as cranial 😱

Yeah, the next few sessions of BM are mandatory (basic physc. principals, nothing tough). Just puts a dent in my day having to sit there and listen to it. And, seriously, MEDLINE?! You name me one person who doesn't know how to use medline or pubmed and I will slap them in back of the head. Done, over with, no class needed.

Listening to double speed certainly saves a lot of time and it really makes you realize how slow some people talk. I just know when I would listen at like 1.5 or 2.0 speed and then go back to class for a few days my mind would really wander.......Also, yeah the medline class is pretty useless....BUT you'd be surprised the number of people that make it this far and don't even know what medline or pubmed is....

Like I said: I got the hand, you just point me in the directions of the skulls to crack in.

Play the file in Windows Media Player.
On the top bar select View, then Enhancements, then Play Speed Settings.

On the bar at the bottom of the media player you can select the speed. Most lectures you can listen to at 1.4 speed, some up to 2.0.

Tip for ya that got me through Intro to Clinical Clerkships:
Wal-Green's on Ingersoll and 35th sells ear plugs 10 for like $3 that are orangish-peach, which is a color that is hard to see from any distance once in your ear.

This allows you to be present for the class and sign the sign-in sheet while studying for a more useful class like Biochem.

WOW 😱 Poem dude is flipping weird.

"The fact that you played with dolls doesn't make you a sissy."

Nope, the fact that you wrote a poem about playing with dolls makes you a sissy.

The uterus poem while anatomically accurate is disturbing.

I do not have a clue what in the world Monsma or whomever else was thinking when they decided to bring this dude in. I'm really sorry ya'll had to sit through that! 🙁

85% on the practice, how close are they to the actual test???

Are you talking about a practice biochem test? We never had those.

Yeah it was online, damn it. Some of the questions were rather difficult (had you sitting there for 10 minutes going over things in your head).

I think we may have actually had them too.....but it was so damn long ago. I will say the old tests you can get through notepool (and I believe on the H drive for biochem). Are very similar to the exams.....

Yea and what does he mean by "touching his knees together and his toes pointing in the sandals" or whatever. I'm picturing this and it looks really....awkward/weird in my mind.

We still get a good laugh out of it.

I'm feeling "non-compliant" about this class right now...

Seriously... this is one of the slowest lectures I've ever been to. It's mandatory because this place would be empty otherwise. I could play this thing x5 and be good.

Blah blah blah. God damn neo-freudians make me sick 😴 😴 . I will give you an ego defense. Blah blah blah. I wonder if you can masterbate in the lecture hall....hmmm

Doctor, I can't give up masterbation in public. When I go to dinner, or somewhere they have alcohol, there is a stressor to masterbate....AHHHHHHH
Tonight I am going to go to my boss's bday party and masterbate, **** drinking. A great problem is that I associate smoking with masterbating. Please help me. :scared:

I hope I dont relapse to masterbation.

I wonder if the guy who crashed his car yelled out things about the Jewish population...or is that someone else...

Jbone, you dissapoint me. Where is your empathy. Try to think how HE must feel. Writing a script is just the first step. Slapping him in the back of the head is the next. GET TO THE HEALING

I think the pointless questions are the most painful

Listen, you are going to die. You are ****ed, blow your brains out, the end. Now that is empathy....

Hey guys... Is it possible for a person to be too empathetic?

How many times can this friggin question be asked in one lecture?

I'm going to blow my brains out if there is any more empathy in here. Empathy has caused me burnout already.

Someone raise their hand and ask for her to repeat the definition of empathy, again...I don't think the girl that types everything got it all.
