Drexel decision time

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Can anyone tell me how Drexel is notifying its applicants after interviews? Are all acceptances, rejections, and waitlist done by snail mail? Thanks.

acceptances come through snail mail. mine actually came to my permanent address rather than preferred, so stay on top of that. i don't think there is any rhyme or reason as to how long it takes to hear back from them. it took four weeks for me but i have friends that took 8 weeks to receive word.

Your right Diggitybop. I recently contacted the office to find out my status b/c its been 3 months since my interview. I was told that a letter was sent out to me back in January but to a old address that I lived at 3 years ago. It's weird how they have that information. Well, they are resending it to my current address now and I am just trying to figure out what the letter might be. Lucky I checked in...hopefully its going to be good news. **Crossing my fingers**

yea beware of the address! My letter was sent to my undergrad frat house that I lived at over 2 years ago!! Plus, this gives you another reason to call for your status...

I got the packet today and I'm super psyched! I am going to medical school and will be a doctor 😱 😀

FYI for those waiting, this was my timeline:

Interviewed 1/9
Noticed link disappeared 1/30
Letter dated 2/7
Received 2/21 (yes 2 weeks...probably because of the storms on the east coast on top of the holiday because of President's Day)

:luck: to those waiting/getting ready for interviews

Congrats!! I interviewed with you on that day! (i'm from Berkeley too!)

I was wondering if Drexel communicates with you when they receive your check. The deadline to receive the check was today for me. I mailed it last Wed, and i'm sure that they received it, but I feel paranoid. Anyone know?

they never contacted me. i called them just to be sure. now that i check my status online i see that they have posted a date for payment of a "matriculation fee". maybe check that but also call them because you can never be to neurotic with these things. congrats everyone whose heard and good luck to the rest!!!

You are right. The receipt of the fee is updated online, as is your selection of which program to enroll in.

Hey guys, is this the same status check that you used to check if you had an interview and stuff? I called about my check reaching Drexel a while ago (this was before they started updating the system) and they said they have received it, but when I log into the status page it just asks me to start a whole new application. I'm nervous, I mean I have the acceptance papers and everything, but I hope everything is complete and good there for me!

I had the same concerns regarding this even though I hand-delivered my check to the office. It took about a month after I brought the check in for it to be cashed and on my bank statement.

As far as the status page online, I have no idea about this since I gave up on trusting the drexel online status check a very long time ago... Anytime I have had a question I have walked up to Queen Lane (which is nice if you live close) and I can say that they do actually check the computer system.... so if they say they received your check, you should be fine. Don't worry! They probably just process them in bunches instead of on a check-to-check basis.

I'm in!!!!

Interview 1/11
Acceptance received 2/24

congrats lunamd!
Hey, i also interviewed 1/11 at drexel.... we probably met!!

haha, I think we did! I'm the one that left early and skipped that PIL info session. I guess it didn't count against me afterall!

Hi. For those of you that were acceptance, could you reveal to us what is included in the package?

Hi. For those of you that were acceptance, could you reveal to us what is included in the package?

Letter from Dr. Hanau, letter from PIL, documentation to save your seat, and PIL application.... I think that may be it. They are sending a packet in the spring (which probably means in the summer since they have been a little behind this year) to all those that are still considering the school.

Hey guys thanks for all the advice and help.

interviewed on 12/4
my link disappeared on 2/21
committee decided on 2/23

How long for them to print up the letter and get it to me? The wait is treacherous esp. since now its end Feb. and I still haven't got an acceptance.
Knowing that my fate has been decided but not being told may be worse than waiting for a decision to be made. Jus like u all, i jus wanna know something after 8 months.

Also wanna let all of you guys following this forum to know that although we may not realize it, this forum is a great support system for those of us going through the process. I think those of us that follow this forum are affected by the words of each other even if its no direct contact. Knowledge provides some security in these unpredictable time. Any knowledge, even just sharing experiences has not just given me a way to pass the wait, but a useful resource to fall back on during the ups and downs.

Congrats to those in, g-luck to those waitin. I will let u guys know how my little story ends when I know. just want to say thanks to all u guys who knowingly or unknowingly helped these monthes pass.

Acceptance letters to those who live close to Philly are usually found in mailboxes on Tuesday. If you are further away, it may be Wednesday... but the trend I have seen and what my friends have seen who have been accepted is that our letters arrived on a Tuesday.

As far as how long it will take for them to print up your letter, it may take at least 1 week after the decision was made. FWIW it took about 2 weeks for them to print out my letter after a decision was made: Decision was made on or around November 29/30, the letter was dated Tuesday, December 12th, mailed Thursday December 14th, and was received on Tuesday, December 19th (in State College, PA).

Dated 2/20 (and they said they put it in the mail the same day). I am soooo excited 😀 😀 😀 😀 Interviewed 1/24.

hey guys,

just found out i got waitlisted. interviewed on 1/30.

does anyone know how the waitlist movement is at drexel? should i call the admissions and ask where i'm ranked at in the waitlist?

feel like the wind's knocked out of me a little...

Do you mind telling me when was the letter dated and if your interview link is still there on your status page??
Thanks and good luck!! 🙂

Hey guys, i got waitlisted too
intereviewed on 1/11.

i said no to the waitlist so maybe that will move someone up a spot or something.! Good luck!

For those still waiting, I interviewed on November 10th 2006. I finally today got the acceptance letter 2/27/07! Thats nearly 16 weeks! yes, SIXTEEN WEEKS! But I still got in. So no news can be good news.

:luck:

I don't think they have a ranking system that they will tell you about, but you can always call and ask. Hang in there. I definitely know what it feels like to get a waitlist letter. Just keep reminding yourself that your still in the running. There is still a shot.

No official ranking at Drexel, or none that they will share with applicants.

There should be significant movement once the deadline to withdraw from multiple acceptances comes around. There will be some movement before then, but I would not hold my breath.

Thanks shadoctor - you give those of us who interviewed back in 2006 hope 😀

There was just a week delay between our interviews, so hopefully I shall hear something soon as well.

anyone got a decision letter WITHOUT the interview link disappearing first on your status page? thanks!

Did you go to committee?? If you are not sure, call them... they usually are cool about letting you know if they reviewed you yet or not. If they did ask them for the date you were reviewed, then look at everyone's experiences on here. The only thing that really varies (like 2-12 weeks) is the time between interview and review. After that there is usually a 1-2 week wait for a letter, whatever letter it may be.

As I have said before, the Drexel status page is probably one of the most unreliable sources and I have never used that to gauge anything.

Interviewed: 1/23
status page just changed on Monday: interview link gone

based on what everyone is saying, I should hear something soon. any thoughts???

Can you do a SDN search to check out how long it took for last year's admittees? (ie a similar thread from last year)...

PS nice tree.

hey guys, I just got my acceptance in the mail today...interviewed on 1/26, link disappeared last Monday I think.

Hey Sharlatan, would you posting your stats? I interviewed around the same time as you and was just wondering what the stats are of people who have been recently accepted. Thanks!

3.72/3.49 GPA (overall/BCPM), 34 MCAT, some not terribly exciting ECs, also went to school in the area

For those who have received their decision letters...do they come in small envelops or big or the small envelops for both acceptance/rejection?

My link disappeared today and I interviewed on jan 5th.

Hoping for some good news....GL everyone who is still waiting.

Acceptances come in a big envelope. WL and rejections come in a small envelope. Good Luck:luck:

Hey guys, I just joined this forum although I have been reading it for sometime. I was wondering, I've noticed the stuff about the interview link vanishing. Mine disappeared today (3/8) aftert I just interviewed on the 7th of Feb. (the week of bad weather...I flew from Raleigh to D.C. and then had to grab a ride/hitch hike with 2 guys whos flight to Philly got canceled as well...made for a great interview topic). I called the office of admissions and they were very helpful and told me that the committee was meeting on me today for the first time, would notify the office of admissions tomorrow, and if a decision is made (accept, reject, waitlist) it would be mailed out next Tuesday. As far as anyone understands, is it possible that they may meet on me today and not make a decision, or if they meet on a candidate, do they go ahead and make one of the 3 choices? I really liked Drexel the day I interviewed and I have enjoyed reading everyone's post on this page. To others waiting to hear something good luck, and if anyone has any insight, it would be greatly appreciated

Cheers,

Is there a pattern in terms of the length of time they take to make a decision and what kind of decision it is? I've noticed that the earlier your link disappears and the earlier to get the decision letter....the more likely that you're accepted. It's been about 8 weeks for me and my decision was just made last thursday and they said they wont send my letter until next tuesday. Dont they usually send it the following tuesday? Anyone got accepted after waiting about 8-9 weeks?

Hey guys
My interview link just disappeared today. I had my interview about 5 weeks ago but after I saw the link disappear I called the admissions office. And the lady told me that my file is still under review. Does that mean they have made a decision and she just didn't want to tell me??

I also just thought about this: for those of you who interviewed and have heard back, did you send in thank-you notes to your interviewer shortly after your interview? If so, were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected or do you think it makes any difference? I sent thank-you notes to Wake and ECU, but not to Drexel (I forgot my interviewers name and didn't save my paper with his name) and was wondering if this might have something to do with why they are meeting today on me after I interviewed only three weeks ago (such as they hold applicants who do not send in thank-you notes in low regard and this might mean an early rejection for myself)

Cheers

Praise be, my link is finally gone! I interviewed back in the 3rd week of November so I'm looking forward to some closure, one way or another.

Good luck to everyone else who will be awaiting news.

can anyone tell me how long did it generally take for the mail to reach you....they told me they sent out my decision on march 1st....and i still don't have it!!!! its driving me nuts...i don't think it should take this long...should it?

I am in Philly and the packet took one week to get to me.

Hey everyone,

I got an interview invite for Drexel, but I think I might want to withdraw. Did you guys like the school? Were the people there nice? I gotta say, every time I've spoken to ANYONE in that admissions office, I get nothing but attitude. Was there anything particularly great about the school?

Any feedback would be of great help.

Thanks

Hey kfire, I would take the interview, I really liked Drexel. I have dealt with the admissions office a couple of times and gotten an attitutde as well, but today when I called to confirm my link for interview disappearing (I interviewed on Valentine's day) they were extremely nice. The schoolbuilding itself is very impressive (only about 14 years old) and they just added onto it. All of the students I came into contact with were extremely nice and enthusiastic about being there, and the interviews were very painless (1 30 min. interview with a student over lunch and 1 fac. interview). One thing that you may consider a drawback (although I don't) is that the medical school is kinda away from center city and the actual hospital with which drexel is associated with, so you have to drive or take a shuttle from the actual school to the hospital (shuttle ride is roughly 10 minutes). There regular curriculum is comparable to most other integrated curriculums and their PIL program is pretty cool (although I doubt that if I get accepted I will pursue that route). If you have any further questions, just send me a message!

Cheers,
A (Tar) Heel Among Wolves

Thanks for helping, heelamongwolves 🙂 Anyone else?
