Okay, so Rutgers University in New jersey just created a dual degree program which provides a Doctor of Medicine and a Doctor of Pharmacy. Sounds very interesting, but is it worth the money and extra work? Doctors, Pharmacists, Medical students please feel free to answer!

Here is the link to the website: http://news.rutgers.edu/news-release/rutgers-pioneers-dual-doctorate-pharmacymedicine/20130904

link?

Also why would you bother. It doesnt really have many benefits in the professional world and in the academic realm, plenty of MD researchers do research in pharmacology without PharmD's or PHd's.

So 2-4 years undergrad (2 or 3 if Rutgers doesn't require bachelors), 10 years PharmD/MD, 3-5 years residency, and possible 1-3 years fellowship

Hell, why not add Ph.D and Post Doc components? It's obvious these people want to stay in training forever.

I don't understand what this program allows you to do, exactly.

Sir James Black was the greatest pharmacologist who ever lived and he only had a MD.

Thanks for the input guys, sounds like the program is long and a bust!
