This thread is for discussing applications to University College Dublin School of Veterinary Medicine in the 2024-2025 (class of 2029) cycle.
NopeAnyone heard from UCDublin?
I applied last year and got an interview with them. They sent the invite at the end of November and my interview was in January. I did not get in, I think it was a combination of missing a prerequisite and having no large animal experience. I have fixed both of those issues since then, so hopefully they interview me again!Hey guys! Second time applicant, first time applicant to UCDublin. Anybody know of an approximate timeline that we'd hear from them for interviews? I noticed on their website interviews are late Fall - early Spring. Good luck to everyone!
Eep I am nervous! UCD is one of my top choices along with Glasgow and I have a lot of large animal experience but less than 50 hours of small animal 😬 I hope they're mercifulI applied last year and got an interview with them. If you are applying as a non-EU resident the code for the 5-year undergraduate program is VTS1. For the 4-year Graduate Entry program the code is VTS3.Hi! I'm finishing my supplemental application (due tomorrow 10/31) - and I do not understand what to answer for "Course Preference Number"? I have emailed Dublin and they aren't responding. Anybody out there filling out the application and understand what they are looking for there, the acronyms I find on their website aren't accepted by the field given!!!
I applied a while ago (I am currently in my 3rd year), so I am not sure if the timeline is still the same. I got my interview invite December 2nd.Hey guys! I believe that they are looking more for varied experience. So, if you have food animal, equine, and small animal experience, I doubt that the lack of tons of SA will make a difference. Back in July.congrats! when did you guys submit your applications im feelin so nervous not hearing anything already
Last year it was the first week of January and you were given a date and time in the email. Not sure if it was a negotiable date but I’m sure if you had a good reason they could switch them.If yall don’t mind me asking, what’re the dates for the interviews? Curious bc Edinburgh is in NY too
Interesting. Mine is January 6th at 12:15 pm. We are just trying to figure out how to afford to go.I was only offered January 9th!

same here. Maybe they do it in waves, hang in there 🤜I have not received an invite or rejection from UCDublin. Trying to stay positive and not get discouraged. Hoping they just haven't sent them all out yet.
I do not know the EXACT data but last year they said they interviewed somewhere around 300 people. The grad entry is around 50 spots total. I’m sure with more applicants this year the interview data could change but I was told the class size isn’t going to differ most likely. (But again this all could have changed)Does anyone know the percentage of acceptance for those who received an interview? If the chances of being rejected are still high I'm unsure if I'm willing to spend the money to get to NYC just to be rejected.
I also want to come back to this and say all interview scenarios are usually about the same like no school accepts almost everyone they interview (to my knowledge) so if you applied and would attend if accepted I 100% recommend continuing with the interview process as it’s just part of the overall admissions process and a step in the right direction! I’m of the philosophy if you spent the money to apply you should see it through (but I understand it is not financially feasible for many - I was lucky and lived in NY)I do not know the EXACT data but last year they said they interviewed somewhere around 300 people. edit: this is also not including the spots they reserve for people they don’t interview. So I’d assume the interviews are for about 40-45 spots
The thing is I most likely will take any US school over going international. I've been accepted into Ross but would take dublin over them. I unfortunately live in the south so going to New York will be taking a lot out financially/days off work. I understand that's the statistics for most schools but very few are still doing in person interviews, applications themselves are so expensive it's crazy to me that some schools are still expecting so much travel wise from applicants.I also want to come back to this and say all interview scenarios are usually about the same like no school accepts almost everyone they interview (to my knowledge) so if you applied and would attend if accepted I 100% recommend continuing with the interview process as it’s just part of the overall admissions process and a step in the right direction! I also live in the south, financially stability is the the concern too, with trying to get Christmas with three kids done, and just starting a new jobThe thing is I most likely will take any US school over going international. I’m so sorry guys it truly is so unfair. Have you considered reaching out and seeing if they offer a virtual option for those who are really financially impacted by having to travel? I can’t imagine they’ve never had someone encounter this before and it could be worth a shot?I also live in the south, financially stability is the the concern too, with trying to get Christmas with three kids done, and just starting a new job
Im sorry this is so tough...I also applied to Dublin but have yet to heard back.I also live in the south, financially stability is the the concern too, with trying to get Christmas with three kids done, and just starting a new job
At the info session last year someone asked this and they were told the best way to go about it is your spouse getting a critical skill job visa but I don’t have any other information about that in terms of children as well. That was my plan w my spouse (obviously if he was even able to get one)For those with kids, what is your plan for your dependents since they no longer are able to come with you on a student visa :/
For my family, it’s a temporary solution while I’m in school. We bought our house in 2022, and my husband has a stable job in the states. We’ve agreed that he will be the single parent while I’m focused on my studies, but with technology today we can keep in contact all the time. We even planned to have set times and days for zoom calls so I can talk to the kids. Once I can graduate and get a job the goal is to get him a work visa with our kids. I even told my six year old I want her writing me letters and I’ll write to her so she can read it and even read them to her classmates. It’ll be hard without a doubt, but that’s why I am SO blessed to have the support of my spouse and he truly believes in me that we have come up with this plan. For those with kids, what is your plan for your dependents since they no longer are able to come with you on a student visa :/
I got an email, I didn’t look at my portalFor people who received interview invites (also congratulations!) did they come by email? Did your application portal change at all?

I checked my portal and it never changed. I would email Dublin and ask for an application update! I pray you are able to get an interview <3My application status for UCD still just says "submitted" so I'm not sure it's even been reviewed yet?? The limbo is killing me

mine too. From reading last years threads it seemed like people received invites/offers also in the first week of December so Im trying to stay slightly hopefulMy application status for UCD still just says "submitted" so I'm not sure it's even been reviewed yet?? The limbo is killing me
Mine too. On the bright side, if they were done sending out interview invites I'm sure we would have received rejections by now. I think no news at this point just reflects they're still in the review process 🙂My application status for UCD still just says "submitted" so I'm not sure it's even been reviewed yet??
