My application went from saying "submitted" to "under review" so they're definitely still working through them! No rejection yet is a good sign 🙂

Just read this on the UCD website, so I think maybe it is based on when our supplemental applications were submitted, unless this does not apply for the Vet program. I submitted my supplemental September 17 and still nothings changed/been emailed.

I don’t think this applies to the veterinary program.

They sent me an email last week saying this:

So it depends which program you applied for (undergraduate vs graduate entry). They won’t be reviewing the undergraduate batch until Feb

Thank you for this information. I've applied to the graduate entry and have yet to hear anything... I guess they're just still reviewing applicants as that email says!

I also applied to the graduate program but I have an interview Jan 7 in NYC
 
Hey guys! My application deadline in the UCD portal keeps changing. My status is still submitted but review has not started yet. Is anyone in the same boat/had this happen in the past or is this something I should reach out about? Thanks in advance!!

There is no place to see that. If you have questions, they do not mind if you reach out. However, this is a crazy time of year for them until after finals (December 20).

Mine doesn’t say anything on the app site but I have an interview with them coming up. So I wouldn’t put too much thought into the status thing then.

I would also love information about what to expect in the interview! There's very little information online (see screenshot from the UCD Global FAQ)
and I'm not sure how to best prepare.

For interviews in NYC, there is also an information session/reception on 1/8. I haven't seen any information about this other than what was on the invitation. My main question for that event is what do I wear?? Information session makes me think more casual but reception sounds more formal. Would love any info or opinions on this!

Info session was literally a 45 minute presentation about the school and then they served like soda and snacks and let everyone mingle for another hour-ish. It was short and if I wasn’t 20 minutes from the city I’d say you could skip it.
 
Seems like I'm not alone when it comes to being unable to find any information on how interviews are carried out by UCD in New York. In the meantime, I'll try checking previous Dublin posts to see if I can scrounge up anything useful

You legit show up to a random building (it was a bank of Ireland last year) and tell the desk person you’re there for a UCD interview. You then are brought upstairs and wait your turn and then you meet with 2 interviewers who are faculty of the vet school. It’s very casual but anticipate to answer questions regarding your experiences, jobs, classes, gpa, any shortcomings of your app etc. but it’s VERY conversational and friendly. They probably won’t say it but I’ll tell u the Irish are VERY laid back. They told me in my interview that extreme type A students usually have issue adjusting to the Irish lifestyle as they are very laid back as a society lol. Also be aware of the program at UCD and why it stands out among other programs for you. Good luck!
 
Any information about # of applicants, interviews, and spots available? I haven't been able to find it on their website.

I do not know the EXACT data but last year they said they interviewed somewhere around 300 people. The grad entry is around 50 spots total. I’m sure with more applicants this year the interview data could change but I was told the class size isn’t going to differ most likely. (But again this all could have changed)
edit: this is also not including the spots they reserve for people they don’t interview. So I’d assume the interviews are for about 40-45 spots

Thanks for reply. I appreciate the information. Good to hear everything will be more laid back. I do have one question. Do you mind me asking if you know what they would consider "shortcomings" on an application? Would it be a lower than average GPA or lack of specific experiences for example?

Yes. Shortcomings would be lower stats / multiple Cs or Ds on transcript. Maybe if you had many withdrawals over a semester. Low experience hours and what prevented you from them. Those types of things.
 
Did anyone else get an email saying your application status has changed? I don’t see any changes. If someone could help that would be great and appreciated

When you sign into your UCD portal, you should be able to see something saying “my applications” and once youve clicked that then itll show you your applications and the status.

I have not heard anything for them yet, no interview invites or status changes it just says submitted : /

Yes, I got an email today and it changed to "decision pending" as well
 
They are very poor at updating their portal. This is typical of how they are here. If you end up going to UCD you will find that everything is insanely laid back and slow. There are plusses and minuses to that, but sometimes it can drive you insane!

How do you find the program over there? And what exactly would be the plusses and minuses to them being very slow?
 
Has anyone just not heard anything from Dublin? I emailed them and they said they’re still getting through applications but I know most interview dates are in a couple weeks….feeling frustrated
 
Does anyone know about how large the Dublin class size is? Google is giving me a wide range & it says they added seat numbers for the class that just started as well.

oof Im in the same boat, literally radio silence. I emailed a week ago asking for an update, but they also have not gotten back to me on that.

I emailed them almost 2 weeks ago and they got back to me with this message: “
The Admissions Committee are currently reviewing applications so there is no update on your application at this time.
Please know we will be communicating with applicants as soon as we have an update for them. Thank you for your patience with the process.”

They must be going on Christmas break soon? So if we don’t hear anything before then I’ll be concerned lol

They are crazed right now with finals. The admins do not take the whole break off. You will probably get an update in January.
 
I will say, last year my experience with UCD was really disheartening. They were extremely unorganized. I was pulled off of the waitlist 5 days before classes started, as an international student I just couldn’t do it.
I think I had sent 8-10 emails prior asking for any update

What a stressful experience. I am pretty confident now that I’m not getting an interview update for the first 2 weeks of January (given that I’m sure the office is now on break). I’m hoping they get back to me either way once they’re back!
