thanks embellis(!) for sharing the wl news. I know that stolen got off of hopkins waitlist, but I guess there is another person.
Two others, in fact. One's going to Yale, another to UPenn.

but does anyone know if they are still overcommitted? I hope not ... *crosses fingers*.
In the email that RW sent us with a list of the undergrads everyone went to, there are 100 schools for people... meaning there are 100 ppl. So I don't think the class was still overcommitted.
Whoa... how do you know??? Do you know them or is this happening via our facebook group or what???
Magic. 🙂
On a slightly unrelated note, for our current M1's, I got an e-mail about parking permits today. Where are we supposed to park? Please don't tell me I have to spend over $600 on a parking permit for the year. 🙁
The parking permits for med students are like $150 or something. We get a better deal than the grad students, luckily. Parking sucks though. First years have to park in PG3, which is a good 10 minute walk from classes... you can take the bus, which comes pretty frequently in the mornings, but that takes like 10 minutes too. You can park closer to campus on weekends or after like 9 pm. Second years get to park in PG2, which is connected to the hospital - yay!
Boo 👎 Actually, I didn't think it was that bad on my interview day. Maybe that is also cuz my adrenalin was going nuts.

It's really NOT that bad, but it's kind of annoying that you have to leave like 20-30 mins before you have to be at school when you live less than 10 mins away. Before I got here, I was used to living like a 5 min walk from school.
Have a great trip, FCD!![]()
Don't forget to bring back some good authentic music. that deserves another!
Is it feasible to carpool during the first year? Do people do it?

Can someone plz xplain to me how this car pool thing usually
works?
Does anyone know which parking lot we are supposed to get a permit for? Thanks!🙂
Yikes! This link says that PG3 is $606!

Budget says permit is $140.😕
Yeah everyone else has to pay $600 to park in PG3, but a couple of years ago, some med students convinced the parking office to give us a discount, so we only pay $140.
Nope, it's PG3 or bust. I currently have a central parking pass that I bummed off a graduating senior, but PG3 is the only option you can buy. There are frequent buses, so it really isn't a big deal.PG3 is a hike! What about parking in GC (graduate center) or H Lot? Those seem to be a lot closer...😀

So I just got back from a week in Maui to find out there are potentially three spots open in the next few weeks.... any more news? Is it wrong to hope the kid from BYU withdrew?
he's definitely NOT withdrawing... But good luck anyway.
Everyone must be pretty stoked about the Nifong news. Wow, the DA breaks into tears, confesses, and gets disbarred. Oh, wait, I thought this was the DuKe law forum. Sorry guys.
haha well, I figured if I could do it, why not? Plus my boyfriend is working at the VA hospital this summer, which is essentially across the street from PG3, so I was able to give him my pass so he could park there. It really isn't too bad, don't worry. It was a big enough deal for you to bum a closer parking space 😀 . I want one too!
I still wish I knew his name... I would be kind of surprised if I had never met him. I know, I know, I don't expect him to withdraw- it was kind of a joke. I'm already making plans to move to Columbus and my wife is already networking for potential jobs there.
However, I'm a man of my word and I'll be patiently waiting until hope is dead!🙂
Hey ryandote, this is the BYU student you keep hoping will drop off the face of the planet. I can't blame you, Duke's program is the best! Don't hold your breath for my spot, but I wish you the best of luck getting into Duke!👍
Sorry, did JohnMadden tell you how anal I am about checking the Duke WL thread? Congratulations on attending. What kind of research are you doing in Durham? Did you do any research at BYU?
I'm new to this whole SDN thing, so I don't know much about anyone. (Although from a quick review of this thread one might suspect your addiction!) I'm currently studying the effects of serotonin depletion on emotional processing and decision-making using fMRI. At BYU, however, I worked in a biochemistry lab with Dr. Buskirk. How about you? I saw you're planning on moving to Columbus. Are you planning on doing the independent study program at Ohio State?
Okay, I know who Buskirk is. I was over in the Widtsoe doing Netamode Systematics with Byron Adams. As for OSU, I've been married for almost three years, but we don't have any kids yet. My wife is a paralegal thinking about law school, so it might still be a few years. I feel more of a need to be plugged into the class, so I'll be doing the regular pathway since I don't have any kids to take care of.
Hehehehe. Um. Like 80% of the class. 😉
I haven't been to a non-mandatory lecture in months.
