Hey Demon,
I take it from your question that you want to know how our first year is divided up... if not, let me know, and i'll fix that!
the first year is divided into 2 semesters... but classes start and end in the middle of the semester...
so for your first semester, you have 8 classes... Biochemistry, cell biology, molec bio/genetics, human anatomy/embryology, PCI, Intro. to clinical medicine, Immunology, social medicine.
(now the PCI class is a yuppie class, you learn how to use your computer for searching research databases... )
your second semester has these following classes - physiology, molec biology/virology, histology, neurobiology, intro to pathology, social medicine, intro to medicine...
the intro to med and the social med classes are year long... the intro to med class is really cool and in your first year, you learn to interview patients and conduct a complete physical exam.
For your vacations, you have fall break sometime in october that's around 2.5 days off... you have spring break, that's around 1 wk off... and you have christmas break which is around 2.5-3 wks long... you also have these two weeks called "community week"... this is where you work in a doctors office and learn what it is you are taught in the intro to clinical med class. the community weeks are fun for most all students because they get to get away from studies and interact with patients!
now our exams ended on may 19... you technically have the whole summer off - until august 11 or so. some people choose research, others choose to travel abroad, others choose to do research abroad... and some relax away!!
I know you had a really simple question... but this is more detail, just in case!!
