Recently got a full time job primarily due to employee referral who put really good words for me. I am thinking of giving some kind of thank you gift. How much would you spend for this?

Whatever you feel comfortable with. If this is for a government job, it's probably preferable that you buy dinner or something rather than a permanent gift.
