Right here! I've been sitting on the application for some time now. But it will be sent out before the deadline.

I have been working on my app too and it's taking forever! lol! I am so nervous because I am a transfer student and as you may already know, the 6 year students get first pick. I'm literally freaking out!:scared:

Yeah I know what you mean. A lot of my friends say don't apply, but a few friends who go there or have family members who go/work there (and a family member who graduated from there) say to apply. But it does take forever. ::sigh::

As strange as this may sound to others, FAMU is my top choice! I would relish the opportunity to study Pharmacy there. Were you able to fit your personal statement in that little box on the application? I'm finding it very hard to do that. Since you know people who work there, it should make things a little easier for you(getting in)👍....good for you. Do you know anyone who is on the admissions committee? Anyway, I whish you the best of luck and I will keep you in my prayers.:luck:

hey putitonme09! When did you get accepted? I thought they were starting to review applications after February 1st...

Well, it's actually funny. I got accepted to FAMU pharmacy school out of HS but my dad convinced me to go to UF (Kinda regret it a little... but not really). So FAMU at one point was my top choice, but UF has become my top choice primarily because I do not like cold weather and going further north is not in my agenda hehe. That and the fact that UF has an Orlando Campus. Hawaii is next, not only because they have a Japanese program but because IT'S HOT HOT HOT AAAAALLLLL year round! FAMU comes next. As far as getting into FAMU with people I know... it's my classmates mother who is on the Adcom... she could put in a good word, but idk how much of an affect that would have. Anyway, I wish you the best of luck, I love seeing other people interested in Pharmacy, so long as it's about the actual career and not the money! Hope you get into FAMU!!!!😍

i really wanted to apply to FAMU but there pre-req for pre-calculus made me not want to apply. I have a bachelors degree with a major in Biology. I only had to take calculus for my degree plan and because I took Calculus AP i did not have to take any other college math classes to get into calculus. Famu also said that I could not substitute pre-calculus for another math class..soo.....I would love to apply there but...

That's some ol' BS.... why can't they just make an acceptance. Obviously you're competent enough to carry through.... especially if you did well in Calc.... Technicalities suck!

I wish I had known about FAMU's 6year program in high school🙁 I probably woul have been a Pharmacist by now! lol! Thank you hun and I wish you the best of luck too. I hope we see each other in the fall!

Why is FAMU your best choice? I've applied there, but I have to admit that I do not know much about their program or anything else

I actually would prefer going to a HBCU pharmacy school. There are only 4 in the country right now (Texas Southern, Dillard, Howard, and FAMU). Texas Southern and FAMU require Pre-Calculus. I am applying to all the Tx schools and all the HBCU pharmacy schools. FAMU is not my top choice but it is up close to the top. 🙂

I am at the beginning of my journey so it will be a while before I am posting that I applied to pharmacy school but I will be watching this thread and similar ones like it. Gotta love SDN!

Dillard University does not have a pharmacy program, they don't have any graduate level programs. I think you meant Xavier University instead. There are more than 4 HBCU pharmacy schools, you left off Texas A&M and Chicago University. I think Hampton is a HBCU too, but I'm not quite sure about that one so correct me if I'm wrong.

HBCU stands for Historically Black Colleges and Universities. These are schools that were founded when African Americans were having a hard time getting acceptance to universities. Today they are open to everyone but they are still considered historically black colleges and universities for federal purposes.

HTH

I intend to apply to FAMU but their website has very little information. They require pre-calculus and calculus. It's confusing me. What happens if I finish my calculus class but don't have any pre-calculus class?

Good luck with that 🙂 I had my interview at Xavier (it's my one and only choice I want to go to a HBCU too and stay in New Orleans) and now I'm waiting until April or May for a decision....so long 😳

Texas A&M is not a HBCU, correct me if I am wrong.

Man I must have been tired when I wrote this! Yes I did mean Xavier. Texas A&M is definitely not an HBCU.

I did a web search not too long ago and only saw four. Now I see that there are more HBCUs. I like having more options 😍

guys stay on topic......anyone applied to FAMU beside me as a transfer?

I'm applying to FAMU as well. I heard they started interviewing the FAMU applicants ...and me ..still waiting...

I don't think so because when I called them they said they will start sending out invitation in couple of weeks....maybe they started interviewing the sophomores but not the transfer applicants.

I applied as a transfer 1st year student. Waiting is a tough! Anyone knows roughly how many applicants they're accepting?

i think they recieve about 1600 application all together for 150 seat

Hi, I am a transfer from USF and I got my interview letter today.

I am a transfer student from florida state college of jacksonville and I got my interview letter today as well, good luck!!

When did you send your application?

I think it was january 26 or 27.... overnight

My transcript got there feb 2nd or 1st, whichever was the deadline? The rest of my app I mailed earlier, but USF never mailed my transcripts like they said, 20$ down the drain there. Then I had them reprinted, given to me sealed thats 20$ more, then I had to overnight it which was like 15$ more. Never relying on schools to send transcripts ever again. Now I have to cut what I have been growing for locks of love so I don't look like a hippie in front of the interviewers.

I hope that I will hear from them soon. I'm in the West Coast. May be it takes a while. Congrats Spears and Jawdat. Keep fingers cross for those who r waiting.

Hi, I am a transfer from USF and I got my interview letter today.

me 2..i just got home....received mail from FAMU ..i was so freaking nervous to open the letter...lol...omg ...i'm just so overjoyed..
gud luck to everyone!!!!

I received an invite last night also...I was nervous my self. I have a 3.5 GPA...although I started out my college career with a 1.75; I worked very hard and I surpassed all the odds against me. I have more than 5 years of pharmacy experience as a pharm tech. I also did a lot of volunteer work. Advise to anyone out there, if I can do it you can too. No matter what school turns you down, all you need is one to accept you. Congratulations to those of you who have an interview, Good luck! God Bless!

😀 I sooooo excited!

I just called them and got my interview scheduled....it's exactly 2 weeks from today ..march 20 ...does anyone go there the same day as mine??? Now i'm worried 🙁

good luck to you all..

I have a question and I was wondering if someone could help me answers this. I received mail from FAMU requesting an official transcript to be sent to them. This is from the university itself and not the college of pharmacy. So when I applied online for pharmacy school that application was also sent to the university? I tried calling the number provided in the mail many times, but it always gives me a busy signal. Thanks!

there are 2 application you have til fill out for FAMU. One in the online application "undergrad application" and you have to pay $25. The other one you fill out is the Supplemental application you have to send your LOR and Transcript with it if not with it you have to make sure they get there on time with your supplemental application. call 850.599.3301 and ask. good luck!

Do you guys have an idea of what questions they might ask during the interview?

I called today and the advisor from the college of pharmacy said they have received everything. I guess the mails that they sent me are from the university. Thanks!

Ok, I called and got an interview for the 18th, there were 5 spots for that day open, but maybe there were 7 or 8 to begin with but were full, so lets say 8 for each day, and there are 3 weeks of interviews with 5 days for each week so that's 15 days, 15 days x 8 interviews per day is 120 interviews estimated. Out of 3000 applicants, that is pretty damn good. Way to beat the odds people. 4% got interviews out of the application pool, if those numbers are right. 😎

I called and they only mentioned that letters will be sent out in 2 weeks. So am I safe to assume I'm going to get a rejection letter? I have a total of 4 pharmacy schools left and haven't heard anything from them.

Maybe not, my dad called a bunch of times and they told him 3-4 weeks a few weeks ago, then I got mine two days after they told him that. I am not looking forward to a 4 hour to tally drive and 4 hour back on the 18th.

Good luck to everyone with interviews!!!

:scared: Thank you we need it ! I know the interview process is a little different now, I know at least 7 people that will be interviewed. Is that unusual?... what are the chances of getting in, and type of question do you think we should expect ?
